The Burrow pitches itself as a wine-forward hangout in downtown Pensacola, and the weekly programming โ Tuesday half-price bottles, Friday tasting flights โ backs that up with real intent. The list lands somewhere between 40 and 70 bottles, which is respectable for a gastropub in this market. First look, it feels like a place that's trying, even if the bottle selections don't always match the ambition.
The regional spread hits the expected marks โ France, Italy, California, Spain, and the Pacific Northwest โ which is a reasonable foundation for a crowd that ranges from curious to casual. The problem is the anchor bottles: Raven Conspiracy Red Blend and Twist of Fate White Blend are grocery-aisle wines dressed up at $28 a pop, and Baby Canadian Sparkling is a $8 retail bottle showing up at $24. These are filler picks that drag the list down. To their credit, the range of regions suggests someone is thinking beyond just Napa Cab and Pinot Grigio, and a 40-70 bottle list gives them room to hide some decent finds in there.
Ten to sixteen pours by the glass is a solid count โ enough to give people real choices without the list going stale. The house Merlot and Pinot Grigio at $7 a glass are genuinely fair entry points, especially the Pinot Grigio which is practically at retail. The Friday tasting night โ 10 wines for $10 โ is the real sleeper feature here and worth planning a trip around.
House White Pinot Grigio (6 oz glass) โ $7
At $7 a glass for a Pinot Grigio that retails around $8 a bottle, this is essentially a freebie markup. It's basic, yes, but for a casual Tuesday night with half-price bottles on the table, starting here while you scan the list costs you almost nothing.
House Red Merlot (1/2 L carafe)
Skip the full liter carafe โ the markup balloons to absurd territory โ but the half-liter at $17 is a smart middle ground for two people splitting a low-key weeknight pour. Not exciting wine, but solid value for the format.
Baby Canadian Sparkling White Wine NV
A $8 retail bottle at $24 is a 200% markup on a wine that has no business being the sparkling option at any self-respecting wine bar. If you want bubbles here, wait for Tuesday and hope it's on the half-price list.
Raven Conspiracy Red Blend NV + Gastropub burger or charcuterie board
This is an uncomplicated red blend built for casual food โ it's not subtle enough for anything delicate, but next to a burger or a salty meat-and-cheese spread on a Tuesday at half-price, it does exactly what it needs to do.
Tuesday โ Half-price select bottles every Tuesday, combined with Happy Hour and Ladies Night. Friday tasting nights offer 10 wine samples for $10. Wednesday offers half-off select bottles as well.
๐ฒ The Bottom Line
The Burrow is a Wild Card because the wine list itself is flawed โ anchored by overpriced grocery-store bottles at full price โ but the weekly deal structure genuinely rescues it. Hit it on Tuesday for half-price bottles or Friday for the tasting flight, and you're having a good night in Pensacola for very little money.
Downtown ยท Pensacola ยท Mediterranean and Contemporary American Seafood
Skopelos at New World is doing more with wine than any other white-tablecloth spot on the Pensacola waterfront, and the Greek wine section alone earns it a second look. Markups keep it from being a true destination for wine lovers, but as a reliable partner to a legitimately good dinner, it delivers.

Seville Historic District ยท Pensacola ยท Upscale Steakhouse & Seafood
The District is a reliable steakhouse wine list in a market that doesn't have a ton of competition โ it gets the job done, leans hard on Napa names people trust, and charges for the privilege. Send a friend here for the steak and the Gulf seafood; just go in knowing you're paying restaurant prices for wines you could identify from across the room.

El Coqui isn't trying to be a wine destination โ it's a neighborhood tapas spot with a list that actually thinks about what you're eating. That's more than most places in this category bother to do, and it earns a genuine recommendation.

Angelena's isn't trying to be a wine destination, but it's doing more than the room requires โ fair prices, real Italian producers, and a list that rewards the curious diner who looks past the Pinot Grigio. Send a friend here for the Tuesday wine special and the Nero d'Avola.

Fisherman's Corner is a genuine wild card: a Gulf Coast shack that takes California wine seriously enough to earn a decade-plus of Wine Spectator recognition. The markups could be kinder and the list could use some personality beyond Napa, but Wednesday half-price night and a waterfront sunset make a strong argument for showing up anyway.

Bonelli's isn't a wine destination, but it's a honest Italian restaurant with an honest Italian wine list, and that's enough. Send a friend here for a weeknight dinner, not a special occasion bottle hunt.
