The Worman House is beautiful — perched on the Big Cedar property with the kind of lake views that make you want to order a second bottle before you've finished the first. The wine list arrives looking appropriately upscale, but flip through it and you quickly realize you're in Greatest Hits territory: Rombauer, Jordan, Cakebread, Stag's Leap. Nothing here is going to surprise you, and that's clearly by design.
The list runs about 30-50 bottles and leans hard into California with a nod toward France — think Napa Cabernet, Chardonnay from the usual suspects, and maybe a Burgundy or Bordeaux to keep things feeling fancy. Producers like Jordan and Stag's Leap Wine Cellars are crowd-approved for a reason, but this is a list built for guests who already know what they like, not for anyone looking to explore. There are no deep cuts, no adventurous importers, no anything from South America, Spain, or the Rhône to break up the monotony. If you want to drink outside the California-France lane, bring your own bottle and ask about corkage.
Eight to twelve pours by the glass at $13–$20 a pop is the range, which tracks with the property's upscale positioning. Expect the usual suspects to show up here too — likely a Rombauer Chardonnay pour and something from Cakebread making an appearance. Rotation looks minimal; this feels like a set-it-and-forget-it glass program rather than anything with active curation.
Cakebread Cellars Sauvignon Blanc — $13-$16/glass
Cakebread's Sauvignon Blanc is a reliable, food-friendly white that holds up against the kitchen's seafood dishes without demanding you pay Chardonnay prices. If it's at the lower end of the glass pour range, it's the most honest spend on the list.
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Merlot
Everyone at this table is reaching for the Jordan Cab, but the Stag's Leap Merlot is the sleeper. Stag's Leap knows how to make Merlot that actually tastes like something — structured, not jammy, and a better match for the steakhouse side of this menu than most people expect.
Rombauer Chardonnay
Look, Rombauer Chardonnay is fine. It's also everywhere, and at a lodge restaurant charging a premium for the setting, you're paying for a bottle you could've grabbed at Total Wine on your way out of town. The markup here makes a mediocre deal on a wine that's already ubiquitous feel even less exciting.
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon + Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass
Counterintuitive, but Jordan Cab is polished enough — low tannin for a Napa Cab, good acidity — that it doesn't steamroll the Sea Bass the way a bigger Cabernet would. It's a bolder move than ordering white, and it works if the fish has any richness to it, which Chilean Sea Bass typically does.

Worman House is a reliable pour in a genuinely gorgeous setting — if you're already staying at Big Cedar Lodge, the wine list does the job. Just don't come expecting discovery; come expecting a familiar, fairly priced-by-Ozarks-standards bottle of something California and enjoy the view.

Saltgrass Pointe Royale isn't a wine destination, but it's not an embarrassment either — fair prices, drinkable pours, and a list that serves its purpose alongside a good steak. Send a friend here for the food; just tell them to skip the Meiomi.
