Thursday's Half-Price Night Is the Move

The wine list at Beau's Grille reads like a greatest hits compilation from a well-stocked grocery store — familiar labels, safe bets, nothing that's going to surprise you. For a hotel-adjacent upscale grill in Akron, that's not a knock, exactly, but don't come here expecting discovery. What you will find is a list that handles the room it's in.
The list leans hard into California and Pacific Northwest, with Italy filling in the gaps — think Meiomi Pinot Noir and Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay anchoring the approachable end while a handful of Italian bottles add a bit of range. There's no real deep-cellar moment here, no producers that make you do a double-take. The 50-100 bottle count sounds promising until you realize a good chunk of that real estate is occupied by recognizable commercial brands that show up on every corporate dinner menu in America. That said, the Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling is a smart inclusion — it bridges the gap between a wine-curious table and the more casual crowd.
Eight to fourteen pours by the glass is a solid program for a grill of this size, and the range covers the obvious bases without stretching into anything adventurous. Rotation appears to happen, which puts it a notch above the truly static lists. If you're here on a Thursday, the calculus changes completely — Retail Wine Night pricing makes those glass pours worth actually exploring.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling — null
Washington Riesling at an Akron grill is an underrated move — it's versatile, food-friendly with the seafood specials, and Ste. Michelle almost always comes in under what the bottle should cost at this tier. On a Thursday, it's a no-brainer.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling
Most tables in a steakhouse-adjacent room skip right past a Riesling, assuming it's sweet and irrelevant. They're wrong. Off-dry Washington Riesling with the lamb chops or the seafood specials is a genuinely good call that almost nobody makes.
Kendall-Jackson Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay
KJ Chard is a $14 bottle at your local wine shop. Whatever Beau's is charging for it, the markup math doesn't work in your favor. There are better uses of your wine budget on this list.
Meiomi Pinot Noir + Prime Rib
Meiomi's plush, fruit-forward profile isn't trying to be Burgundy, but that soft texture and low-aggression tannin actually plays well against the fat and char on a proper prime rib. It's the crowd-pleaser pairing that earns its spot.
Thursday — Retail Wine Night on Thursdays — bottles priced at or near retail. Specific pricing details not confirmed, but the program is active.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Beau's Grille isn't a destination wine stop, but it's a perfectly competent list for what the room demands — and Thursday's Retail Wine Night is a legitimate reason to plan around it. Send a friend here for steak and wine on a Thursday without hesitation; any other night, manage expectations.
Montrose / Fairlawn · Akron · Seafood
Come for the seafood — the Shrimp & Grits and Crab Cake have genuine fans — but come on a Tuesday when the bottles are half off, because that's the only time the wine program makes financial sense. Any other night, order a cocktail.

East Akron · Akron · Japanese / Hibachi
Hibachi Japan's wine list isn't going to make anyone's bucket list, but it's priced fairly, covers the basics, and won't embarrass you on date night. Order the Riesling or Pinot Gris, enjoy the show, and don't overthink it.

Montrose / Fairlawn · Akron · Seafood
Bonefish Grill Fairlawn won't give you a wine moment worth texting about, but it won't rip you off either — and in the chain restaurant landscape, that clears the bar. Show up during Social Hour, grab a Kim Crawford, and focus on the fish.

Yours Truly is a solid diner doing diner things — the wine list is an afterthought, and that's fine, because you're probably here for the eggs anyway. Order the Prosecco or a Riesling, skip the red blends, and put your energy into the food.

Galaxy's Wine Room is the best wine program in the Akron orbit, and it's not particularly close — but the steep markups and thin by-the-glass selection hold it back from true destination status. Come with a budget, order a bottle, and skip the sticker shock on the Napa end of the list.

FD's Grillhouse isn't trying to be a wine destination, and it knows it — the list is safe, the markups lean steep, and the by-the-glass selection does most of the heavy lifting. If you're here for burgers and a decent pour, you'll leave fine; just skip The Prisoner and let Catena or Chapoutier do the work.

T-BONES is not a wine destination, and it knows it — the list exists to support the food, not the other way around. If you're in South Willow and you want a decent glass with your haddock or steak tips without getting gouged, this does the job.

Sedona Taphouse is a beer bar that does right by wine drinkers on a budget — nothing exciting, nothing offensive, and priced fairly enough that you won't feel the sting. Send your wine-curious friends here if they also want 40 taps and a flatbread; send your wine-serious friends somewhere else.
