Sixty-seven labels is a solid number for a bar in Truckee, and the list reads like someone did their homework — at least on California whites. It's not adventurous, but it's not embarrassing either. You're not going to find anything that surprises you, but you're also not going to feel ripped off.
The list leans hard into California Chardonnay — nine labels deep, running from the approachable Josh Cellars all the way up to Cakebread and Pride Mountain. Sauvignon Blanc gets real attention too, with Frog's Leap, Duckhorn, and Cakebread all showing up. Bubbles are covered from La Marca splits up to a Louis Roederer Brut at $95. What's missing is any real breadth outside the West Coast comfort zone — no Burgundy, no Loire, no Rhône, and the list appears to be heavily white-focused based on what's surfaced, with Cabernet listed as a region category but not represented in the extracted data we have.
Thirteen options by the glass with prices running $15–$25 is a reasonable pour program for a mountain bar. The splits — La Marca and Domaine Chandon at $18 each — are a smart move for solo drinkers or anyone who wants bubbles without committing to a full bottle. Bar of America is a reliable wine stop in a mountain town that could easily get away with serving mediocre wine at inflated prices — and to its credit, it mostly doesn't. The markup is fair, the Chardonnay selection is deeper than it needs to be, and the Scharffenberger at $52 is worth ordering. If you want adventure, look elsewhere; if you want a dependable glass after a day on the slopes, this works.

If you're passing through Truckee and want something more interesting than a resort bar pour, this is your move — just come in ready to drink their stuff on their terms.

Petra is the wine list you don't expect to find at 6,000 feet next to a ski lift, and that surprise is worth something real. Moody's is the kind of place that earns a second look the moment you see Tablas Creek rosé and a Cru Beaujolais on the same all-glass list in a mountain town. The program is compact but clearly curated by someone who cares, and the pricing is fair enough that you won't feel punished for ordering well. If you're passing through Truckee, this is worth a stop for the wine alone.

Stella is quietly running one of the more serious wine lists in the Truckee-Tahoe corridor, anchored by a sparkling section that would hold its own in a San Francisco wine bar and priced without the mountain-town surcharge you might expect. We don't know enough about the service experience or the glass program to call it a Rager, but as a Wild Card — a tasting menu spot in ski country with actual wine ambition — it earns the badge. If you're headed up the mountain, this is the list worth planning around.

Pianeta is doing more with wine than most places at this elevation and zip code, and the Italian-Sicilian regional focus is a genuine asset for a menu that lives and dies by its pasta and lamb. That said, with entrees running $25–$45 and markup likely trending steep in a resort-adjacent market, your wine spend can climb fast — go in with eyes open and ask your server what's drinking well before defaulting to the familiar names.
