Six wines. That's the whole list. For a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant in a mountain town where people linger over meals and bottles, six labels is a decision — and not a flattering one. The selection reads less like a curated program and more like someone filled in a template.
The list covers the basics in the broadest strokes: a Saumur sparkler from Bouvet-Ladubay, a Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc, a Raeburn Chardonnay from Russian River Valley, a California rosé, a Babcock Earth Cuvee Pinot Noir from Santa Rita Hills, and a Wines of Substance Cabernet from Columbia Valley. To their credit, a couple of these producers are legitimate — Babcock's Santa Rita Hills fruit is the real deal, and Bouvet-Ladubay is a solid Loire house. But six wines is six wines: there's no depth, no red through line, and virtually no room for anyone who wants to explore. The gap between the Mediterranean menu concept and a Columbia Valley Cab anchoring the red selections is hard to ignore.

With a list this small, the safe assumption is most or all of them are available by the glass — but that's still a very short menu for a full dinner service.
The Bottom Line
Como Truckee is clearly a food-forward restaurant that hasn't put the same energy into its wine program. Six labels is a hard ask when you're building a full Mediterranean meal around it. If you're a wine person, drink with low expectations or call ahead about corkage.

Truckee River Winery earns its Wild Card badge not because the list is adventurous in the traditional sense, but because finding a family-owned winery tasting room with legitimate California vineyard sourcing tucked into a ski-and-river town is genuinely unexpected. If you're passing through Truckee and want something more interesting than a resort bar pour, this is your move — just come in ready to drink their stuff on their terms.

Petra is the wine list you don't expect to find at 6,000 feet next to a ski lift, and that surprise is worth something real. The grower Champagne depth and Loire white focus suggest someone cared enough to build a list with a spine. If you're anywhere near Northstar, skip the hotel minibar and find this place.

Cottonwood's wine program is a by-the-glass-only affair, but whoever built this list has taste — a Loire Muscadet, a Tempranillo, and a natural California red don't end up together by accident. If you're skiing into Truckee and want something more considered than the usual resort pour, this is a solid stop. Don't come expecting a deep cellar; do come knowing the glass options are genuinely worth ordering.

Moody's is the kind of place that earns a second look the moment you see Tablas Creek rosé and a Cru Beaujolais on the same all-glass list in a mountain town. The program is compact but clearly curated by someone who cares, and the pricing is fair enough that you won't feel punished for ordering well. If you're passing through Truckee, this is worth a stop for the wine alone.

Stella is quietly running one of the more serious wine lists in the Truckee-Tahoe corridor, anchored by a sparkling section that would hold its own in a San Francisco wine bar and priced without the mountain-town surcharge you might expect. We don't know enough about the service experience or the glass program to call it a Rager, but as a Wild Card — a tasting menu spot in ski country with actual wine ambition — it earns the badge. If you're headed up the mountain, this is the list worth planning around.

Bar of America is a reliable wine stop in a mountain town that could easily get away with serving mediocre wine at inflated prices — and to its credit, it mostly doesn't. The markup is fair, the Chardonnay selection is deeper than it needs to be, and the Scharffenberger at $52 is worth ordering. If you want adventure, look elsewhere; if you want a dependable glass after a day on the slopes, this works.
