You walk into a pink-draped, gold-trimmed fever dream of old California hospitality, and the wine list fits right in — familiar, comfortable, and not trying to surprise anyone. It leans hard on the local Paso Robles and Central Coast heavyweights, which makes sense given you're basically sitting in wine country's backyard. This isn't a list that challenges you; it's a list that shakes your hand and asks if you want a Cabernet with that prime rib.
The list runs 50–80 bottles and stays squarely in Central Coast territory, with Justin and Daou anchoring the Cabernet side and Edna Valley Vineyard holding down the Chardonnay corner. Daou gets dismissed by wine snobs as a crowd-pleaser, but the Paso Robles terroir gives it real structure and dark fruit depth that holds its own against prime rib. Most tables order Justin out of habit — Daou is the smarter move at the same price tier.
Justin Cabernet Sauvignon
Justin Cab is everywhere — every steakhouse, every hotel restaurant, every airport lounge in California. It's not bad wine, but at steakhouse markup you're paying a premium for a label you could grab at Costco for a fraction of the price. The novelty expired about a decade ago.
Daou Cabernet Sauvignon + Ribeye Steak
Ribeye's fat content needs tannin to cut through it, and Daou's structured Cab from the Adelaida Hills delivers exactly that — dark cherry, firm backbone, and enough weight to match the steak without either one winning.
