You walk into a dining room that looks like a prospector struck gold inside a Bavarian palace, and the wine list matches the energy — familiar, confident, a little over-decorated. It's California-heavy with a clear steakhouse agenda: big Cabs, crowd-favorite Chardonnays, and just enough bubbles to handle a celebration toast. Nothing here is going to surprise you, but nothing is going to embarrass you either.
The 44-label list is a greatest hits of California wine with a Central Coast lean that actually works in the restaurant's favor — there's genuine local pride here with Edna Valley, Paso Robles, and Santa Rita Hills all represented. You get Turley 'Pesenti' and L'Aventure 'Optimus' sitting next to Justin 'Isosceles' and Epoch 'Estate Blend,' which is a solid Paso Robles lineup for a hotel steakhouse. The Napa bench is predictable — Caymus, Silver Oak, Opus One 'Overture' — but predictable in the way that keeps a steakhouse humming on a Friday night. What's missing is any real depth beyond California: no Burgundy, no Barolo, no Rioja to give the list any old-world backbone.
Eighteen by-the-glass options is genuinely generous for a steakhouse of this size, and the range covers bubbles through bold reds without forcing you into a bottle. The glass pour prices land between $14 and $22, which is fair for the SLO market even if the ceiling feels soft. Don't expect the list to rotate much — this reads like a program that was set and is being maintained, not actively curated.
Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 Paso Robles (1L) — $75
A liter of Austin Hope for $75 at a steakhouse is a legitimate deal. You're getting more wine than a standard bottle at a price that doesn't feel punishing, and it's a Paso Cab that can actually stand up to a ribeye. Order this and split it two ways with a clear conscience.
Alban Viognier 2023, Central Coast
Alban is one of the foundational Rhône-variety producers in California and the Viognier is genuinely distinctive — floral, textured, not the fruit-bomb that name usually signals. Most tables at a steakhouse will walk right past it for Chardonnay, which means your odds of getting a fresh pour are higher than they should be. Worth the detour.
Veuve Clicquot Brut NV
At $130 a bottle, you're paying a steep premium for the yellow label recognition on a wine that retails around $55–$60. The Schramsberg Brut Blanc de Blancs at $65 is a better bottle and a better story — domestic, high-quality, and half the price. Veuve here is purely a brand tax.
Sea Smoke 'Ten' 2021, Santa Rita Hills + Prime Rib
Sea Smoke 'Ten' is a Pinot Noir with enough structure and dark fruit density to actually hold its own against prime rib's fat and char — something most Pinots can't manage. It's the rare moment on this list where the wine surprises you without the restaurant charging you Burgundy prices for it.

The Gold Rush Steak House is a reliable, no-drama wine program dressed up in a very dramatic room — the markups sting on the trophy bottles, but lean local and lean toward Paso and you'll eat and drink well. Send a friend here if they want a California Cab with their steak and don't want to think too hard about it.

Tolosa is the rare tasting room that earns your full afternoon — focused, estate-driven wines in a proper setting, with the occasional Priorat curveball keeping things honest. If you're driving through SLO wine country, this one deserves more than a quick stop.

Mistura earns its Wild Card badge by doing something most Peruvian spots don't bother with: building a wine list that actually reflects where the food comes from.
