Wingman Metrics
The wine list at 2020 Market reads like a greatest hits of grocery store favorites — La Marca, Meiomi, J. Lohr — dressed up for a night out in a mixed-use development. It's not offensive, but it's not trying very hard either. For a scratch kitchen that clearly puts effort into its food, the wine program feels like an afterthought.
The list leans heavily on California and Italy, with crowd-friendly producers that play it very safe — Benvolio Pinot Grigio, Seaglass Riesling, Meiomi Pinot Noir. There's no real depth here: no interesting sub-regions, no indie producers, nothing that suggests someone on staff is passionate about wine. The 40–60 label count sounds promising until you realize most of those labels are recognizable from your local HEB. Gaps are everywhere — nothing from Burgundy, nothing from Spain worth mentioning, no natural or orange wine presence at all.
The by-the-glass program runs 12–16 options, which is a decent count for Georgetown, Texas. But quantity doesn't equal quality — pours like Meiomi Pinot Noir and J. Lohr Cab at markups north of 260–290% over retail mean you're paying a premium for wines that should be house-pour pricing. Rotation doesn't appear to be a priority here.
J. Lohr Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon (glass) — $11
It's still marked up steeply relative to retail, but at $11 a glass it's the most approachable entry point on the list for a red with enough body to handle their steaks. Come on Monday and it's part of a half-price bottle deal — suddenly it makes a lot more sense.
Seaglass Riesling
Nobody orders Riesling at a Texas burger joint, which is exactly why you should. It's got enough brightness and residual sweetness to cut through rich food, and it's being ignored in favor of Pinot Grigio by virtually every table. Not a complex wine, but it's the right call on a hot Georgetown evening.
Campo Viejo Cava Brut Reserva NV
At $38 a bottle for a wine that retails around $12, this is the worst markup on the list at over 216%. It's a fine everyday Cava, but there's no reason to pay nearly $40 for it at a restaurant when you can grab it at the grocery store on your way home.
Seaglass Riesling + Chicken & Waffles
The off-dry Riesling handles the sweetness of the waffle and syrup without getting lost, while its acidity cuts through the fried chicken fat. It's a better call than the Pinot Grigio everyone defaults to, and it makes the brunch experience actually interesting.
Monday — Half-price bottles of wine every Monday, excluding the reserve list and special events. Best night to visit if wine is part of your plan.
✔️ The Bottom Line
2020 Market is a reliable neighborhood spot for food, but the wine program is coasting — steep markups on familiar labels aren't doing anyone favors. Show up on Monday, grab a half-price bottle of something reasonable, and let the scratch kitchen do the heavy lifting.
Downtown Historic Square · Georgetown · Winery / Tasting Room
Georgetown Winery isn't trying to be a destination wine experience — it's a casual, zero-markup pit stop on the historic square where the drinks are honest and the prices are shockingly fair. Send a friend here if they want to relax with Texas wine without being lectured about it.

Grape Creek Georgetown is a one-portfolio show, but when that portfolio is priced at retail and the setting is this good, that's not a complaint — it's a reason to go. If you want Texas wine without the drive to the Hill Country, this square is your shortcut.

Golden Rule Annex is a cocktail bar that happens to have wine, and that's fine — especially when Friday and Saturday bring 50% off bottles. Don't come here expecting a deep list; do come here expecting a good time at a fair price.

Saltgrass Georgetown is not a wine destination — not even close — but it's one of the rare chain steakhouses where the wine program won't leave you feeling cheated. If you're here for the steak and want something decent in your glass at a fair price, you're covered.

Red Lobster's wine list is a corporate afterthought dressed in a laminated menu, and the Georgetown location is no exception. Order the Riesling, enjoy the biscuits, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere that shares it.

LongHorn Georgetown is a perfectly fine place to eat a steak; it is not a place to drink wine. The pricing is fair enough that you won't feel robbed, but the list is so narrow and uninspired that you'd be better off asking what's on draft.
