RagingWine reviewed Yori Wine Cellars & Brewing Companyβs wine list and gave it The Wild Card β RagingWineβs Vibe-Check rating. How RagingWine reviews wine lists β
Wingman Metrics
The list is short β 27 labels β but every single one is made right here, which tells you exactly where you are: a working winery in Pennsylvania wine country doing its own thing. There's no imported filler, no bulk California juice dressed up with a house label. This is hyper-local, take-it-or-leave-it stuff, and honestly, we respect the commitment.
The roster leans heavily into Lake Erieβapproved hybrid and vinifera grapes β Corot Noir, Chambourcin, Leon Millot, Noiret β the kind of names that make casual wine drinkers reach for their phones. That's not a knock; these cold-climate varieties genuinely thrive in this corner of Pennsylvania, and Yori is one of the few spots in the region treating them seriously. The Cab Franc and Merlot give the list some familiar footholds for guests who panic at 'Traminette.' Gaps are obvious β zero coverage of anything outside a 30-mile radius β but that's the entire point here.
All 27 wines pour by the glass, which is the whole model β this is a tasting room as much as a dining destination. At $5β$7 a pour, you can work through multiple bottles' worth of exploration for what you'd spend on a single glass at a downtown restaurant. The breadth of by-the-glass options makes this genuinely one of the best places in Erie to learn what Pennsylvania wine actually tastes like.
Yori Cabernet Franc β $7/glass, $20/bottle
Cab Franc from Lake Erie is an underrated proposition β the cool climate keeps the green pepper character in check and adds real freshness. At $20 a bottle, it's a flat-out steal to take home, and at $7 a glass it's basically impossible to complain.
Yori Leon Millot
Most people walk right past this one because they've never heard of it. Leon Millot is a French-American hybrid that delivers dark fruit and earthy character in a light-to-medium frame β think Beaujolais energy with a distinctly Lake Erie accent. Worth the curiosity.
Yori Concord
If you're here to explore what Pennsylvania wine can do, the Concord is the wrong move β it's sweet, grapey in the most literal sense, and more reminiscent of juice than wine. Fine if that's your thing, but at a spot with this much interesting hybrid material on offer, it's a wasted pour.
Yori Dry Riesling + House charcuterie or smoked meats
Dry Riesling's high acidity and stone fruit cut through cured and smoked proteins like a knife β it's a classic combination that works whether you're at a Mosel estate or a tasting room in North East, Pennsylvania.
π² The Bottom Line
Yori isn't trying to be anything other than what it is β a scrappy, all-in local winery pouring its own stuff at prices that make you want to order a second round. If you've never explored Lake Erie hybrid wines, this is the most affordable classroom in the region.
Peach Street Corridor Β· Erie Β· Steakhouse
The markup here is genuinely fair, which is the nicest thing we can say β you're not getting ripped off, you're just not getting anything interesting either. If wine matters to you, drink whatever's cheapest and put your attention where it belongs: the steak.

Peach Street Corridor Β· Erie Β· Steakhouse / American
Texas Roadhouse is not a wine destination and makes no pretense of being one β the food is the draw and the wine list is an afterthought wearing a flannel shirt. Order a beer, a margarita, or just lean into the Woodbridge Cab and enjoy your steak.

Peach Street Corridor Β· Erie Β· Seafood-focused American casual dining
Red Lobster Erie is not a wine destination β it's a seafood chain with a functional, forgettable list that keeps the table watered without inspiring anyone. Order the Chateau Ste. Michelle, enjoy your biscuits, and save the serious bottle for another night.

If you're already staying at the Sheraton and want wine with dinner, Bayfront Grille won't ruin your night β but it won't give you a story to tell, either. Come for the bay view, not the bottle list.

Presque Isle is a wild card in the best sense: an estate winery patio that prices at retail and pours wines you genuinely cannot find anywhere else. If you're passing through Lake Erie wine country and skip this stop, you've missed the point of the trip.

Johnson Estate is a destination for people who want to drink where the wine is made, not a stop for those chasing a deep cellar experience. If you're anywhere near Lake Erie and curious about what this AVA can actually do with Riesling, it's worth the detour.
