The wine list at Yavapai arrives feeling as polished as the resort itself — heavy on Napa and Sonoma heavyweights, with a nod to the Pacific Northwest and a small but notable Arizona section. At these price points, you're paying for the setting as much as the wine, and Boynton Canyon earns some of that markup just by existing. Still, there's a real list here, not an afterthought.
The 150-250 bottle list leans hard into California classics — Jordan Cabernet, Stag's Leap Chardonnay, Duckhorn Merlot — the kind of names that play well in a resort context and rarely send anyone home unhappy. The Pacific Northwest gets some shelf space, and the Arizona section deserves more attention than most guests give it, representing local producers in a way few resort restaurants bother to do. What's missing is any real adventurousness: no natural wine, no deep European bench, nothing that makes a wine-focused diner sit up straight. It's a list built for consensus, and it succeeds at that.
With 15-25 by-the-glass options, there's enough range to navigate a full dinner without committing to a bottle — useful in a resort setting where guests often dine solo or have wildly different tastes. Expect the pours to skew California and predictable, but the Arizona inclusions by the glass are worth seeking out if they're available that evening. Rotation appears minimal, so don't count on anything exciting changing week to week.
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon — null
Jordan is the value anchor on a list that trends expensive. It's a known quantity — consistent, food-friendly, genuinely good — and in a lineup of resort markups, it tends to land at a more defensible price point than the prestige bottles. If you're ordering red with a ribeye, this is where to land.
Arizona local producer selections
Most guests walk right past the Arizona section in favor of something they recognize from a wine shop back home, which is a mistake. Arizona's high-altitude wine country is producing genuinely interesting bottles, and Yavapai is one of the few resort restaurants in the state that actually stocks them. Ask your server what's pouring locally — it's the most interesting part of the list.
Duckhorn Merlot
Duckhorn makes fine wine, full stop. But at resort pricing, you're likely paying a significant premium over retail for a bottle you can find at any well-stocked grocery store. The name recognition is doing a lot of work here, and the markup doesn't justify the familiar label.
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Chardonnay + Local trout
Stag's Leap Chardonnay has the structure and restrained oak to handle a well-prepared regional fish without bulldozing it. The regional trout preparations at Yavapai tend to lean on Southwestern herbs and lighter sauces — exactly the kind of dish this Chardonnay was made to sit next to.

Yavapai is a reliable resort wine program done right — proper storage, knowledgeable staff, and a list that won't embarrass anyone. The markups are real and the list plays it safe, but if you lean into the Arizona selections and order smart, you'll drink well with one of the more dramatic backdrops in the American Southwest.

The Hudson's wine lounge is a reliable, comfortable spot that plays it safe and plays it well — you won't be surprised, but you won't be disappointed either. If you're looking for adventure in a glass, you'll need to look elsewhere; if you want a solid pour with one of the better views in Sedona, this does the job.
