Wingman Metrics
You walk into a sausage bar in Jersey City expecting a Bud Light and a brat, and instead you get a 32-label list dominated by serious craft cider. It's jarring in the best way — this place clearly has a point of view, even if that point of view is 'we love fermented apples more than grapes.' The two actual wines feel almost like an afterthought, which tells you exactly what this place is and isn't.
The list is essentially a cider program masquerading as a wine list, and honestly, it's a good one. You've got dry and bone-dry options from South Hill and Brooklyn Cider House, rosé ciders from Wölffer Estate and Shacksbury, fruit-forward stuff from Austin Eastciders, and a legitimate European import in Domaine Dupont's Etienne Dupont Organic Cidre from Normandy. The actual wine presence is exactly two bottles — Pinot Project Pinot Noir and Gazerra Pinot Grigio — both at $10/glass, both clearly there so the table's one wine drinker doesn't feel stranded. Don't come here expecting a cellar; come here expecting a thoughtfully curated cider program that most dedicated wine bars couldn't match in that lane.
With 28 by-the-glass options running $7–$10, the pour game is remarkably generous for what this place is. Nearly the entire cider program is available by the glass, which means you can graze through styles — bone-dry to tropical to rosé — without committing to a full bottle. The two wine pours, both at $10, are priced fairly if not excitingly.
Domaine Dupont Etienne Dupont Organic Cidre — $17/bottle
A certified-organic Norman cidre from one of France's most respected cider houses at a price that's basically a steal. This is the kind of bottle you'd pay $30+ for at a wine shop with attitude.
South Hill Cider String Theory
At $45, it's the priciest bottle on the list, and most people at a sausage bar will walk right past it — but South Hill makes some of the most wine-like ciders in the Northeast, and this one rewards the curious drinker willing to treat cider like it deserves.
Gazerra Pinot Grigio
At $10/glass, it's not offensive on price, but it's a nothing pour in a place that clearly doesn't care about wine. If you're ordering this, you've missed the point of why you're here.
Ironbound Hard Cider Harrison's Sparkling Cider + Bratwurst
Sparkling cider and a classic brat is the Jersey City version of a Bavarian beer garden moment — the effervescence cuts through the fat, the apple notes complement the pork, and everything just makes sense.
The Bottom Line
Würst Bar is not a wine destination — it's a cider destination wearing a wine list's clothes, and it's really good at that specific thing. Send your cider-curious friends here without hesitation; tell your Burgundy-obsessed friends to eat somewhere else first.
· Jersey City · New American
Mathews isn't a destination wine list, but it's honest, fairly priced, and more thoughtful than it looks at first glance. Send a friend here if they want a good glass without a lecture.

Ed & Mary's isn't trying to be a wine bar and doesn't need to be — but whoever put the Intérieur Carbonic Zinfandel and Delegati Sparkling Pinot Noir on a 13-bottle bar list deserves a nod. Prices are fair, the whole list pours by the glass, and two genuinely weird options make this worth more than a passing glance.

Hamilton Park · Jersey City · Italian
GP's Hamilton Park isn't a destination wine list, but it's a fair one — honest prices, approachable options, and a by-the-glass program that covers the table without drama. Send your friend here if they want a solid neighborhood pour, not a wine education.

Downtown · Jersey City · Australian-influenced, Natural Wine Bar
Frankie is a genuinely surprising wine program hiding inside a casual downtown spot, and the Italian-leaning natural wine list punches well above the Grove Street zip code. If you're in Jersey City and care about what's in your glass, this is where you go.

Hoboken Waterfront · Jersey City · Barbecue
House of 'Que is a genuinely fun spot for barbecue and live music — just don't come here expecting wine to be part of the experience. Order a beer, eat the brisket, and save your wine night for somewhere that cares.

Edward's is a reliable steakhouse wine list for guests who want Napa Cabs with their dry-aged beef and aren't looking to be challenged. Send a friend here who loves Jordan and Stag's Leap; don't send the one who's been on a natural wine kick.
