Wingman Metrics
The wine list at White Dog Wayne feels exactly like the restaurant itself — warm, unfussy, and genuinely trying to do right by you. It's not going to blow a wine geek's mind, but it's also not going to embarrass anyone. Forty to seventy bottles anchored in California and France, with a Pacific Northwest thread running through it — competent and honest.
The list leans predictably West Coast with California leading the charge and some French options rounding out the Old World side. Pacific Northwest producers add a bit of texture to what could otherwise be a pretty vanilla American bistro list. Don't come here looking for Jura oddities or skin-contact anything — that's not the game being played. What you get is a dependable lineup that matches the farm-to-table, community-minded spirit of the restaurant without asking too much of anyone.
Ten to twenty options by the glass is a solid spread for a neighborhood bistro of this size — enough to find something worth drinking without feeling overwhelmed. During Happiest Hour (3–6 PM, Sunday through Friday at the bar), you're looking at $8 pours, which changes the math considerably in your favor. The rotation doesn't appear to be aggressive, but the pricing structure makes it forgiving enough to experiment.
Sean Minor Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa) — $8
During Happiest Hour, a Napa Cab by the glass at $8 is the kind of deal that makes you order a second before you've finished the first. Sean Minor makes clean, approachable Napa Cab that would normally cost you significantly more anywhere else on a wine list.
Pacific Northwest selections
Most people at White Dog are going straight for the California options, but the Pacific Northwest thread on this list deserves more attention. Oregon and Washington producers tend to punch above their price point, and on a list this size, they're often the better value play than the headline Napa bottles.
Sean Minor Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa)
Wait — this wine is the Best Value during Happy Hour, but order it outside of those hours at full list price and the calculus flips. A Sean Minor Cab is a solid weeknight bottle, not a premium one. If you're paying full price outside the deal window, look elsewhere on the list for better bang.
Sean Minor Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa) + Roasted Chicken
A ripe, fruit-forward Napa Cab next to a well-roasted chicken works because the wine's soft tannins don't bulldoze the bird, and the savory roasted-skin flavors give the fruit something to push against. It's a classic move done right.
Monday — Half-priced bottles of wine with the purchase of an entree every Monday. Also half-priced bottles during Happiest Hour (3–6 PM, Sunday–Friday at the bar).
✔️ The Bottom Line
White Dog Wayne isn't a wine destination, but the Monday half-price bottle deal and daily Happy Hour pricing make it one of the better value plays in the suburbs for a weeknight glass or two. Send a friend here if they want good wine without a lecture.
