Wingman Metrics
The wine list lands on your table like a small novel β in the best way. Four hundred to six hundred labels is not a number you throw around casually, and Purple doesn't. The room itself signals intent: this is a place that takes wine seriously without making you feel underdressed for it.
The Pacific Northwest anchors everything here, and rightfully so β Quilceda Creek Cab and Cayuse Syrah are names that belong on any serious Washington list, and Purple has them. But the list doesn't stop at the Cascades: Burgundy, Bordeaux, and Italy all show up with enough depth to keep old-world devotees from feeling like an afterthought. Oregon gets its due alongside Washington, and the California section fills in the gaps without leaning on obvious crowd-pleasers. The breadth is genuine, not just padding.
Thirty to fifty by-the-glass options is an embarrassment of riches β most restaurants max out at a dozen and call it a day. The presence of a sommelier means those pours rotate with some intentionality rather than sitting on the list until the bottle oxidizes. Whether you want a glass of Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling before dinner or something more adventurous, there's a real answer here.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling β $35
One of Washington's most consistent producers at one of the list's more accessible price points. It's not a flashy pick, but it's exactly the kind of wine that overdelivers for the dollar β crisp, food-friendly, and easy to order a second glass of without doing math.
Cayuse Vineyards Syrah
Cayuse flies under the radar for anyone who hasn't been paying attention to Walla Walla, but this is cult-status Washington Syrah with serious pedigree. Most diners reach for Pinot or Cab; the ones who order this tend to look very smug by the time the entrΓ©es arrive.
Kosta Browne Pinot Noir
Kosta Browne is a fine wine β nobody's disputing that β but it's also one of the most recognizable, most marked-up names in California Pinot. On a list this deep, ordering the bottle everyone already knows is leaving real value on the table. You can do better here.
DeLille Cellars Chaleur Estate + Truffle Macaroni and Cheese
Chaleur Estate is a Bordeaux-style white blend β mostly Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon β with enough richness and texture to stand up to the truffle mac without getting bulldozed by it. The wine's slight oakiness and creamy weight mirror the dish in a way that actually makes sense rather than just sounding good on paper.
π₯ The Bottom Line
Purple Kirkland is the rare suburban wine bar that earns the description without asterisks β deep list, knowledgeable staff, and enough Washington heavyweights to justify a dedicated trip. Send a friend here and tell them to skip the Kosta Browne.
Downtown Β· Kirkland Β· French brasserie with Pacific Northwest influences

Waterfront / Downtown-adjacent Β· Kirkland Β· French-American Bistro
Le Grand Bistro Americain is a genuinely lovely spot to watch the sun drop over Lake Washington β but the wine list is coasting hard on that view. Until the markups come down or someone builds a list that actually reflects the French-American ambition of the kitchen, we'd say order a cocktail and save the wine budget for somewhere that earns it.

The Heathman isn't going to make you rethink your relationship with wine, but it's a genuinely decent hotel list anchored by wines worth drinking β and the Monday/Wednesday half-price bottle deal turns a steep markup into something actually worth your time. Show up on a deal night, order the Col Solare, and you'll leave happy.

Vaudeville earns its Wild Card badge by hiding a genuinely thoughtful wine list inside what looks like a lifestyle boutique. It's not the deepest list in Texas, but it's the most surprising one you'll find in Fredericksburg β and that counts for a lot.
