The wine list at Salt Kitchen & Bar reads exactly like you'd expect from a polished Marriott Autograph property — competent, inoffensive, and designed to please the broadest possible audience. It's not embarrassing, but it's not trying very hard either. You're in a gorgeous historic hotel on the New Hampshire seacoast, and the list feels like it was assembled in a conference room in Bethesda.
The list leans heavily on California with a nod toward France and the Pacific Northwest — the kind of geography that shows up on every hotel wine list from Portland, Maine to Portland, Oregon. Sonoma-Cutrer, Jordan, and Meiomi are doing a lot of the heavy lifting here, which tells you the procurement strategy prioritizes brand recognition over discovery. There's nothing wrong with these wines, but there's also nothing that makes you put down your phone and pay attention. New Zealand makes an appearance, likely a Sauvignon Blanc slot for the seafood crowd, which at least shows some regional awareness.
The by-the-glass program runs 10 to 16 options, which is a reasonable count for a full-service resort dining room. Expect the usual suspects — a California Chardonnay, a Pinot Noir, something sparkling for the celebratory tables. Rotation appears minimal; this feels like a static list that gets revisited once a year at best.

If you're going to drink California Chardonnay at a resort, this is one of the more honest choices on the list — restrained oak, real acidity, and a producer that's been doing this longer than most. It's the pick that won't let you down in a lineup that's not exactly full of surprises.
Pacific Northwest selection
The Pacific Northwest entry on this list — whatever it turns out to be — is worth asking about. Hotel lists in New England rarely bother with Oregon or Washington, so if they've got something from the Willamette Valley or Columbia Gorge hiding in the back, that's your move.
Meiomi Pinot Noir
Meiomi is a fine grocery store bottle at $18 retail. On a resort wine list, it's almost certainly priced at two to three times that, and the wine hasn't changed — it's still a soft, fruit-forward crowd-pleaser that doesn't reflect where you are or what you're eating. Order anything else.
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon + Grilled steak
Jordan is built for exactly this moment — a well-marbled steak in a formal-ish dining room where you want something classic and confident. It's not a revelation, but it's a reliable handshake between the wine and the plate, and in this context that's about as good as it gets.

Salt Kitchen & Bar is a perfectly adequate place to drink wine if you're already staying at the Wentworth, but we wouldn't recommend driving out to New Castle for the list. Order the local seafood, pick something coastal to drink, and enjoy the view — that's the real value here.
