You don't expect to find Sassicaia and Burgundy Grand Cru on a wine list in Wichita, Kansas — and yet here we are. Vora's list lands with genuine authority for a mid-sized European restaurant sitting on East Douglas Ave. Wine Spectator has been handing them an Award of Excellence since 2019, and one look at the list tells you they've earned it.
The Italy section is the clear heart of this list — Barolo from Piedmont, Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti Classico Riserva, and Super Tuscans like Tignanello and Sassicaia give you a proper tour of the Italian peninsula's upper tier. France holds its own with Burgundy Grand Cru producers and Bordeaux classified growths rounding out the 150-250 bottle selection. It's a focused, old-world list that doesn't chase trends — no token New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc filler here. The gap is anyone who wants to explore outside France and Italy, but frankly, that focus is what makes it work.
With 10-20 by-the-glass options, there's enough to drink well without committing to a bottle — a genuine luxury in a city where most restaurants phone in the glass pours with two reds and a Chardonnay. We'd push the staff on what's currently pouring from the Italian selections before ordering, since rotation details aren't always front of mind here.
Chianti Classico Riserva — $40-$60
Chianti Classico Riserva in the lower price tier punches well above its weight on this list — serious Sangiovese that holds its own against the bigger Italian names without the Barolo price tag.
Brunello di Montalcino
Most tables at Vora gravitate toward the Super Tuscans because the names are familiar. The Brunello is the move — deeper, more complex, and a reason to linger over the handmade pasta.
Bordeaux classified growths
Bordeaux classified growths at a Kansas restaurant tend to carry the highest markup and the least excitement. With Italy this strong on the list, paying a premium for Bordeaux names here is the wrong call.
Barolo (Piedmont) + Handmade pasta
Barolo's firm tannins and dried cherry depth are built for a slow dinner, and Vora's handmade pastas — particularly anything with a rich meat-based sauce — give it exactly the weight it needs to open up.
🎲 The Bottom Line
Vora is the kind of restaurant that makes you reconsider Wichita as a dining destination — a legitimately serious Italian and French list in a casual-elegant room with a patio. If you care about old-world reds and want to drink well in the middle of Kansas, this is your spot.
Revolutsia / North Downtown · Wichita · German
Prost isn't a wine destination — it's a biergarten that respects its theme enough to put a coherent German wine list on the table. The Thirsty Thursday bottle deal is legitimately good, and if you show up on the right night with the right dish, you'll leave happier than you expected.

Wasabi Hinkaku isn't a wine destination, but it doesn't pretend to be — and the pricing is honest enough to earn some respect. Show up on a Tuesday when the wine chiller special is running and you've got yourself a solid weeknight deal.

BJ's is a beer restaurant with a wine list that exists so people don't feel left out. If you're here for the Pizookie and a cold craft brew, you've made the right call — but if wine is your priority, East Wichita has better options.

We wouldn't send a friend here for the wine — we'd send them to a grocery store if Barefoot is the goal. Order a cocktail, enjoy the Riblets, and accept the wine list for what it is: corporate wallpaper.

GIA is the kind of place that makes you do a double-take when you see the wine list — a craft-cocktail lounge with Sassicaia, Brunello, and a Wine Spectator award is genuinely unexpected in this market. If you're in Greensboro and you care about wine, this is your spot.
