Wingman Metrics
You're sitting in a hotel restaurant with a killer view of Lake Erie, and the wine list arrives looking exactly like you'd expect from a hotel restaurant with a killer view of Lake Erie. Sixteen bottles, zero surprises — it's a list built for the path of least resistance, not for anyone chasing a rabbit hole. That said, it's clean, readable, and nothing here is going to embarrass you.
The 16-bottle list leans hard on California with pit stops in Italy, New Zealand, South Africa, and Washington State — respectable range on paper, but the producers tell the real story. Castle Rock, Mark West, Murphy-Goode, and Prophecy are all perfectly drinkable brands you'd find at any grocery store, which is fine if you just want a glass of Chardonnay with your salmon but frustrating if you're hoping for anything to get excited about. The Italian presence — Cielo and Ca' Montini Pinot Grigio, Ruby Donna Rosé, and a couple of Proseccos — adds a little texture, and Peter Yealands from Marlborough is genuinely a solid producer that earns its spot. There are real gaps in the red wine depth: one Pinot Noir, one Merlot, one Cab, and nothing even nodding toward Syrah, Zinfandel, or anything old-world red.
Here's the rare thing: every bottle on the list is also available by the glass, so the entire program is a by-the-glass program. That's actually a guest-friendly move for a hotel dining room, even if the selection itself doesn't push any limits. At $8+ a pour, you're not getting fleeced on the low end, but don't expect your server to walk you through nuances — this is more of a point-and-order situation.
Peter Yealands Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc — $8+
Yealands is a legitimately good producer doing serious work in Marlborough, and it stands several rungs above the California crowd-pleasers sharing the list. Next to Lake Erie and a plate of fish, this is the obvious move.
Domaine Ste. Michelle Washington Brut
Most people at a waterfront steakhouse reach for a Chardonnay and never look back. Don't. Domaine Ste. Michelle is one of the most consistently overperforming sparkling producers in the country — Columbia Valley bubbles at a fraction of what you'd pay for comparable Champagne, and it holds its own through an entire seafood-focused meal.
Korbel California Brut
With Domaine Ste. Michelle sitting right next to it on the list, there's just no reason to order Korbel. It's the sparkling wine of brunch buffets and office parties, and at a waterfront dinner, you deserve better for roughly the same price.
Peter Yealands Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc + Macadamia-Crusted Fish
The bright citrus and grassy snap of a good Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc cuts right through the richness of the macadamia crust and keeps the fish tasting like fish — clean, coastal, and exactly right for where you're sitting.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Two45 is a hotel restaurant doing hotel restaurant things — the wine list won't make you feel anything, but it won't let you down either. Come for the lake view and the seafood, pick Peter Yealands or Domaine Ste. Michelle, and save the wine obsession for somewhere else.
Peach Street Corridor · Erie · Steakhouse
The markup here is genuinely fair, which is the nicest thing we can say — you're not getting ripped off, you're just not getting anything interesting either. If wine matters to you, drink whatever's cheapest and put your attention where it belongs: the steak.

Texas Roadhouse is not a wine destination and makes no pretense of being one — the food is the draw and the wine list is an afterthought wearing a flannel shirt. Order a beer, a margarita, or just lean into the Woodbridge Cab and enjoy your steak.

Red Lobster Erie is not a wine destination — it's a seafood chain with a functional, forgettable list that keeps the table watered without inspiring anyone. Order the Chateau Ste. Michelle, enjoy your biscuits, and save the serious bottle for another night.

If you're already staying at the Sheraton and want wine with dinner, Bayfront Grille won't ruin your night — but it won't give you a story to tell, either. Come for the bay view, not the bottle list.

Presque Isle is a wild card in the best sense: an estate winery patio that prices at retail and pours wines you genuinely cannot find anywhere else. If you're passing through Lake Erie wine country and skip this stop, you've missed the point of the trip.

Johnson Estate is a destination for people who want to drink where the wine is made, not a stop for those chasing a deep cellar experience. If you're anywhere near Lake Erie and curious about what this AVA can actually do with Riesling, it's worth the detour.
