The wine list here is six bottles long and every single one of them is made under the Wool Factory label — which tells you everything about the ambition of this place. This isn't a list trying to cover ground; it's a tight, hyper-local showcase with a clear point of view. Walk into the courtyard with a glass of something poured from a bottle you could have grown up on, and it's hard to argue with the vibe.
Six wines, all Wool Factory-produced, spanning a Petit Manseng, a Cabernet Franc, a Sauvignon Blanc, a Blanc de Blancs, and two vermouths — Bitte Red and Bitte White. The range is genuinely interesting for such a small list: Virginia aromatics, sparkling, and vermouth in the same breath is not something most casual wine spots attempt. The obvious gap is anything outside the estate's own program, so if you're looking for a Burgundy or a Barolo, you're in the wrong courtyard. But if you want a genuine expression of what's growing in Central Virginia right now, this is the place.
Everything on the list is available by the glass, which means all six options pour freely — including both vermouths, which is a genuinely fun move. The rotation doesn't appear to change much, so what you see is what you get season to season, but the quality of the pours is consistent with the estate's production standards.
Wool Factory Sauvignon Blanc 2022 — Unknown
Virginia Sauvignon Blanc is still a novelty for most drinkers, and getting a taste of what the state can do with the grape in a casual, no-pressure setting makes this the most educational pour on the list — and probably the easiest drinking.
Wool Factory Bitte White Vermouth
Most people walk past vermouth on a wine list without blinking, but the Bitte White is an estate-made, Virginia-grown product that you genuinely cannot find anywhere else. Order it over ice or straight and pay attention — this is niche in the best possible way.
Wool Factory Bitte Red Vermouth
Not because it's bad, but if you're only having one glass, the Red Vermouth is the more niche of the two and harder to appreciate without context. First-timers are better served starting with the Blanc de Blancs or Sauvignon Blanc before going down the aromatized wine rabbit hole.
Wool Factory Cabernet Franc 2020 + Charcuterie or snacks from the courtyard
Virginia Cab Franc tends to run herbaceous and medium-bodied — exactly what you want with cured meats and something salty to graze on while you're sitting in a converted textile mill watching the afternoon go by.

The Workshop is not trying to be a serious wine destination, and that's exactly why it works — it's a focused, honest pour of what's happening in Virginia wine right now, in one of the more pleasant outdoor settings in Charlottesville. Send a friend here if they've never tried Virginia vermouth; send yourself here when you need a low-key afternoon glass without anyone trying to upsell you.

Prime 109 is one of the best wine programs in Virginia, full stop — deep list, a sommelier who clearly curated it with intention, and picks that reward curiosity over brand recognition. The markup stings, but in a room this good, with bottles this interesting, you're probably going to forgive it.

Oakhart Social's wine list punches well above its weight class for a small plates spot — the range is genuinely exciting and the Virginia representation is the real deal. Markups on the high end will sting if you reach for the Ramey or the top Rhones, but stick to the midrange and the by-the-glass picks and you're drinking well in one of Charlottesville's more interesting rooms.
