Wingman Metrics
The Skunk & Goat's wine list is short — 19 labels — but it's not trying to be something it isn't. This is a gastropub list built for people who want a solid glass with their meal, not a guided tour of Burgundy. The price points are refreshingly honest for the Erie area.
The list leans heavily on accessible California names like Murphy Goode and Benziger, with a nod to local pride via Presque Isle's Blushing Heron Rosé — a smart inclusion that grounds the list geographically. New Zealand gets a seat at the table with Rata Sauvignon Blanc, and Argentina shows up through Antigal Uno Malbec. The wild card here is the Yori Cabernet Franc, which at least signals someone on the curation side knows there's a world beyond Cab Sauv and Chardonnay. Don't come hunting for Rhône or German Riesling — this list plays to the center lane and stays there.
Every single bottle on the list is available by the glass, which is either a smart move for the casual drinker or a sign that bottle sales aren't really the point. The 5oz/$8-$14 and 9oz/$13-$23 tiering gives you flexibility without forcing a full commitment. Rotation doesn't appear to be a priority — what's on the list is what you get.
Antigal Uno Malbec — $42/bottle
Argentine Malbec at this tier consistently punches above its weight, and Antigal Uno is a reliable example — fruit-forward, full enough for pub fare, and priced fairly for a sit-down dining context.
Yori Cabernet Franc
Cab Franc is the grape most people walk right past on a list like this, conditioned to reach for Cab Sauv instead. Yori's version offers something more interesting — earthy, a little herbal, with better acid — and it's likely flying under the radar here.
Benziger Chardonnay
At $34 a bottle, you're paying restaurant markup for a widely distributed California Chardonnay that retails in the low teens. It's not bad wine — it's just not interesting wine, and the value math doesn't hold up when better options are within reach on the same list.
Presque Isle Blushing Heron Rosé + Gastropub charcuterie board
A local Finger Lakes rosé against a board of cured meats and pickled accoutrements is the kind of low-stakes pairing that just works — the wine's restrained fruit and bright acid cut through fat and salt without getting in the way.
✔️ The Bottom Line
The Skunk & Goat isn't your wine destination, but it's not trying to be — and that's fine. If you want a decent pour at a fair price in Erie without any pretension, this list will take care of you.
Peach Street Corridor · Erie · Steakhouse
The markup here is genuinely fair, which is the nicest thing we can say — you're not getting ripped off, you're just not getting anything interesting either. If wine matters to you, drink whatever's cheapest and put your attention where it belongs: the steak.

Texas Roadhouse is not a wine destination and makes no pretense of being one — the food is the draw and the wine list is an afterthought wearing a flannel shirt. Order a beer, a margarita, or just lean into the Woodbridge Cab and enjoy your steak.

Red Lobster Erie is not a wine destination — it's a seafood chain with a functional, forgettable list that keeps the table watered without inspiring anyone. Order the Chateau Ste. Michelle, enjoy your biscuits, and save the serious bottle for another night.

If you're already staying at the Sheraton and want wine with dinner, Bayfront Grille won't ruin your night — but it won't give you a story to tell, either. Come for the bay view, not the bottle list.

Presque Isle is a wild card in the best sense: an estate winery patio that prices at retail and pours wines you genuinely cannot find anywhere else. If you're passing through Lake Erie wine country and skip this stop, you've missed the point of the trip.

Johnson Estate is a destination for people who want to drink where the wine is made, not a stop for those chasing a deep cellar experience. If you're anywhere near Lake Erie and curious about what this AVA can actually do with Riesling, it's worth the detour.
