The Hush earned a Top 5 Restaurant of 2025 nod, and it deserves it for the food. Authentic Cuban cuisine in a mountain town is a rare find, and the kitchen delivers. The wine list is short and safe: a few whites, a few reds, nothing that screams Cuban wine pairing. That said, the staff know their menu well and can point you toward something that works with the ropa vieja or the Cuban sandwich. Mojitos and cocktails are the real beverage story here.
Cuban cuisine pairs beautifully with wine: Albariño with ceviche, Tempranillo with pork, sparkling anything with fried plantains. The Hush has the kitchen talent and the audience to build a wine program that amplifies the food. A short, focused list of Spanish and South American wines would transform this from Reliable to Wild Card territory. The bones are there.
Great food, friendly staff, fair prices, and a wine list that exists but doesn't excite. The Hush is a Reliable with Wild Card potential. The cocktails carry the beverage program while the wine waits for its moment.
✔️ The Bottom Line
The Hush serves some of the best Cuban food in North Georgia with a wine list that does the minimum. Order the mojito, enjoy the food, and hope the wine program catches up to the kitchen.
LaPrade's Marina · Clayton · Pizza / Quick Service
Billy Goat Island once had a bottle list that punched way above its weight class for a marina pizza counter. Ownership changes and a winter closure leave the wine program in limbo. We will update when it reopens.

Lake Burton Cafe is a lakeside dive bar. The beer is cold, the setting is great, and the wine is irrelevant. That's not a criticism.

Son Cubano isn't a destination wine list, but it's a legitimately good one for what it is — a glamorous Cuban night out where the wine program doesn't embarrass the room. Send a friend who wants a fun evening with solid pours and a view; just steer them away from the Meiomi.

Mariel earns its Wine Spectator credential by being genuinely thoughtful about a list that could have easily phoned it in. If you're in Boston's Financial District and want something more interesting than another steakhouse Cab Franc, this is exactly the kind of wild card worth having in your back pocket.

Come to Kuba Kuba for the food, which genuinely earns its loyal following — but don't come here for the wine. Order a mojito, grab the Malbec if you must, and put your wine energy somewhere else.
