Billy Goat Island Pizza Bar

Billy Goat Island is a pizza counter at LaPrade's Marina on Lake Burton, and at one point it had a wine program that made zero sense for the format. Sure, you drank out of a plastic cup, but the bottle selection was legitimately impressive for a lakeside shack. The variety went well beyond what you expect next to a boat ramp, and the prices were always fair. It was the kind of place you could grab a serious bottle for dinner or pick up something decent for a boat ride when supplies were running low.

Billy Goat Island has gone through ownership changes and closed for the winter, so the future of that wine program is uncertain. We are keeping this review active because the bones are there and the location is irreplaceable. When it reopens for summer, we will revisit and update. Fingers crossed the new owners understand what they had.
