Walking into The Heirloom Room, the wine list feels like it was built to reassure rather than surprise — familiar names, safe regions, nothing that's going to make anyone at the table uncomfortable. That's not necessarily a bad thing in a tourist-heavy mountain town, but it does mean you're working with a curated greatest hits album rather than anything exploratory. The list communicates 'upscale date night' loud and clear.
The list leans heavily on California and Pacific Northwest workhorses, with some Italian representation rounding things out. You'll find the usual suspects: Duckhorn in the Merlot slot, Jordan holding down the Cabernet corner, La Marca doing the Prosecco duty. There's nothing wrong with any of those choices — they're crowd-tested and food-friendly — but the list doesn't venture far from the approved tourism-district playbook. Gaps in Rhône, Burgundy, and anything remotely adventurous are noticeable if you're looking.
With 12-20 pours available by the glass, the program is more generous than most places at this altitude — literally and figuratively. Expect the glass list to mirror the bottle list: California Cabs, a Pinot or two, the La Marca for the bubbly crowd. Rotation appears limited, so what you see is probably what you get season to season.
La Marca Prosecco — null
If the markup is steep across the board, lean into the Prosecco — it's a known quantity at a lower price point than the heavy reds, and it holds up well with the charcuterie board as a starter move.
Duckhorn Merlot
Merlot gets unfairly ignored on lists like this because everyone reaches for the Cab. Duckhorn's Merlot is the better-balanced, often under-ordered bottle on the table — silkier, less showy, and more honest with food.
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon
Jordan is a fine wine, but it's also one of the most marked-up brands in American restaurant wine programs. You're paying for the name recognition here, and in a steep-markup environment that math gets worse fast.
Duckhorn Merlot + Filet Mignon
Duckhorn Merlot's plum and cedar notes don't overpower the filet the way a big extracted Cab can — it plays with the beef rather than wrestling it. Classic combo, executed without ego.

The Heirloom Room is doing more for wine than most spots in Gatlinburg, and that counts for something. Just go in knowing you're getting a comfortable, familiar list at tourist-town prices — not a revelation.

Loco Burro is a great spot for a frozen margarita on a Smoky Mountain rooftop — the wine list is just not the reason you're here, and no one pretends otherwise. Order a cocktail, enjoy the view, and save your serious wine curiosity for a different night.

Mellow Mushroom Gatlinburg is a genuinely fun spot for pizza and a cold beer — lean into that and you'll have a great time. The wine list, though, is an afterthought dressed up as a menu section, and no amount of hippie décor changes that math.

The Greenbrier is doing exactly what a fine dining steakhouse in a national park tourist corridor should do with wine — keeping it approachable, stocking names people recognize, and not getting too weird about it. It's not a wine destination, but it won't embarrass itself either; send a friend who wants a solid Cab with a great steak and a mountain view.

The Best Italian's wine list does exactly what it needs to do: keep casual diners happy, not drain wallets, and get out of the way of the garlic knots. We wouldn't drive to Gatlinburg for the wine, but if you're already there and want something decent with dinner, you'll be fine.

Send your friends here if they want a taste of Appalachian winemaking culture, not if they're chasing a Riedel-and-Rhône experience.
