Great River Views, Wine List Forgot to Show Up

The Deck is a genuinely fun spot — riverside, live music, cold drinks — but the wine list is clearly an afterthought. We're talking a handful of house pours wedged between the beer taps and cocktail menu, nothing more.
There's no list to deep-dive here, really. A house Chardonnay and a house Cabernet Sauvignon are holding down the fort, along with a couple of other unnamed basics. No regions, no producers, no story — just wine-shaped beverages to check a box for guests who don't want a beer. If you're hoping for even a mid-shelf domestic pick or a crowd-pleasing rosé, you're out of luck.
Four to six by-the-glass options at $6–$9 a pour, which is the only thing working in the wine program's favor. The prices are honest for what you're getting, and at least nobody's charging craft cocktail money for house plonk. Rotation appears nonexistent — what's on today is almost certainly what was on last summer.
House Chardonnay — $7
At around $7 a glass, it's hard to get too upset. Order it cold, drink it fast, and enjoy the river view — that's the move here.
House Cabernet Sauvignon
Nobody's coming to a riverside bar-and-grill in Fort Wayne for the Cab, which means expectations are low enough that a drinkable pour actually clears the bar. On a cool evening on the deck, it gets the job done without pretense.
House Chardonnay
If you're planning to linger through a full meal, skipping the wine entirely for one of their cocktails or local craft beers is almost certainly the better call. A single glass of house white is fine; committing to a bottle-equivalent over the course of dinner is a rough night.
House Cabernet Sauvignon + Burger
A no-frills Cab with a no-frills burger is at least internally consistent. Neither is going to challenge you, and sometimes that's exactly the point on a warm riverside evening.
❌ The Bottom Line
The Deck is a great place to spend an afternoon — just don't come here for the wine. Order a local beer or a cocktail, grab a burger, and let the river do the heavy lifting.
Downtown-adjacent / Near West · Fort Wayne · Italian market and deli
Antonuccio's isn't a restaurant wine program — it's something more interesting: a genuine Italian market where you can eat well and leave with better bottles than most Fort Wayne restaurants will ever pour you. Come for lunch, leave with a Chianti, zero regrets.

Northwest (Jefferson Pointe / Illinois Rd corridor) · Fort Wayne · Upscale American Steakhouse
Eddie Merlot's Fort Wayne is a reliably well-run steakhouse wine program — proper storage, real glassware, a sommelier on the floor, and enough pours by the glass to satisfy a full table. The list won't challenge you, and the markups will sting, but if you want a classic California Cab with your prime beef and you want it done right, this place delivers.

Jefferson Pointe · Fort Wayne · American – Gourmet Burgers & Pub Fare
BRU Burger Bar is genuinely great at what it does — burgers, fries, a cold beer. The wine list exists as an afterthought for guests who don't drink beer, and it should be treated accordingly. Order a craft draft, save the wine for somewhere that cares.

Nawa is a fine place to eat; the wine list won't embarrass anyone, but it won't excite them either. Grab the Amarone or the Broquel Malbec, ignore the celebrity bottles, and let the food do the heavy lifting.

Henry's is a bar that happens to take its wine list seriously enough to matter, and the Wednesday half-price deal is the kind of thing you should have already texted your friends about. Don't overthink it — show up, order the Belleruche, and feel good about your Wednesday.

Southwest Fort Wayne · Fort Wayne · Winery with American Grill / Bistro Fare
Vinland Reserve is the rare Indiana winery that earns a second look — barrel-aged hybrids, honest Bordeaux imports, and some of the most approachable pricing in the region. Wine Wednesday alone makes this worth adding to the rotation.

Drake's Hamburg is a beer bar, full stop — the wine list exists as an afterthought and that's fine, as long as you order accordingly. If your table insists on wine, grab a glass of Dark Horse Cab with your burger and call it a night.

Bank Street isn't a wine destination — it's a good-time downtown bar that happens to have a wine list that won't embarrass you. Send a friend here for the patio and the Big Bank Shrimp; the wine will take care of itself.

Buck & Honey's isn't a destination wine list, but it's a competent one that won't ruin your night or your wallet — and for a lively bar-restaurant in Middleton, that's exactly what it needs to be. Send your friends here without hesitation; just steer them past the safe choices toward the few wines that actually have something to say.
