Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Tequila's takes about four seconds to read — because there are exactly four wines on it, all from Sutter Home. This isn't a wine program so much as a wine afterthought, a box checked somewhere between the salsa and the sopapillas. The real action here is clearly in the margarita department, and the restaurant knows it.
Four Sutter Home varietals — White Zinfandel, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot — make up the entire wine universe here. These are the same bottles you'd find in a gas station cooler or a grocery store endcap, which tells you everything about how much creative energy went into curating this list. There's no regional exploration, no producer diversity, no nod to the fact that Colorado actually has some solid wine country a short drive away. If you came here hoping to find a crisp Grüner to cut through your enchilada sauce, you're in the wrong zip code.
All four wines are available by the glass at $4.75 each, which is at least honest — no illusions that you're getting something special, and no premium pricing to justify it. The list doesn't rotate, doesn't feature seasonal pours, and gives you no reason to revisit it on your second visit. It's the same four options every time, forever, amen.
Sutter Home Cabernet Sauvignon — $4.75
At under five bucks a glass, this is the least offensive option for red drinkers — it's simple, it's cheap, and it won't fight with a plate of beef enchiladas. Value by default, not by design.
Sutter Home White Zinfandel
Nobody's ordering this, and that's fair. But if you're eating something spicy and want something cold and slightly sweet to dull the heat, this $4.75 pour is actually doing a job — just don't tell your wine friends.
Sutter Home Chardonnay
Sutter Home Chardonnay is a tough sell anywhere. Here, there's nothing on the list to trade up to, so you're just stuck with it. Order a margarita instead — it's the right call and it's probably cheaper.
Sutter Home Cabernet Sauvignon + Beef Burrito
The Cab is simple and fruit-forward enough that it won't clash with seasoned ground beef and red sauce. It's not a pairing you'd write home about, but it's functional — which is the most honest thing we can say about this wine list.
❌ The Bottom Line
Tequila's is a solid neighborhood Mexican spot that simply doesn't care about wine, and that's fine — the margaritas are probably doing heavy lifting anyway. Come for the tacos, skip the wine list, and don't let the four Sutter Home options talk you out of a good time.

Come for the beer — seriously, come for the beer. The wine list is eight grocery-store bottles propped up by a Wednesday half-price deal that's the only real argument for ordering wine here at all.

The Goat and Clover is a pub, full stop — the wine list exists to serve people who don't want a beer, not to inspire anyone. Come for the fish and chips and a pint, but if you need a glass of wine, the Alta Vista Malbec will get you through the night without regret.

Moody's Lounge has no business having a wine list this interesting in a cocktail bar in Grand Junction, and we respect it. Markups are on the steeper side and there's no rotating program to keep things exciting, but the core selection shows real taste — and that counts for a lot out here.

Red Lobster's wine list is a chain afterthought with steep markups on brands you could grab at any gas station in Grand Junction. Skip the wine, order a cocktail, and save your wine budget for somewhere that actually tried.

Blue Moon is a fine neighborhood bar and an easy place to grab a glass of something cold after work — just don't come here expecting the wine list to match the charm of the room. Order the Alamos, enjoy the Greek food, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere else.

The Winery Restaurant is a reliable, well-meaning wine list that earns honest marks for spotlighting local Grand Valley producers and sneaking in a few Italian gems amid the Napa crowd. The markups can sting on the prestige bottles, but if you know where to look — and now you do — there's a genuinely good night of wine to be had here.

Come to Taqueria El Mexicano for the tacos — they're the whole point. The wine list is an afterthought, and that's fine, just don't make it the reason you show up.

Mezcalito's isn't a wine destination, but its list punches above its weight on value and has just enough Spanish character to make it interesting. If you're here for tacos, order the Rioja and don't look back.

Mi Mexico is not a wine destination, and it doesn't pretend to be — order a margarita, enjoy your meal, and don't expect the wine list to surprise you. If you absolutely must have wine with your tacos, the Sangria is $6.25 and nobody will judge you.
