Wingman Metrics
Taka walks in with the confidence of a serious sushi restaurant — fresh fish, polished room, reservations recommended — and the wine list tries to keep up. It doesn't fully succeed, but it's not embarrassing either. Think suburban wine list doing its best in a room that deserves better.
The region focus leans toward Champagne, New Zealand, and California with some Japanese influence, which makes sense for a sushi-forward menu but doesn't exactly push boundaries. There's nothing here to make a wine person lean forward in their chair, but there's enough to drink well if you know what to order. The list feels like it was assembled with the food in mind rather than by someone with a real wine obsession. Gaps exist — don't expect depth in Burgundy, Alsace, or anything that would make a sommelier get misty-eyed.
Glass pour details aren't publicly documented, so we can't tell you what's rotating or how many options you'll have when you sit down. What we can say is that for a restaurant at this price point — $31 to $50 per person — the by-the-glass program should be doing more heavy lifting than what's reported. Ask your server what's open; sometimes that's where the good stuff hides.
The Bottom Line
Taka is a genuinely good sushi restaurant in Sandy Springs, and the wine list is serviceable enough to get you through a meal without frustration. But the wine isn't the reason to come here — the hamachi, the black cod, and the omakase are. If you want wine to match the food's ambition, call ahead and ask what they have open; otherwise, come for the fish and treat the wine list as a supporting character.

Zafron isn't trying to be a wine destination, and that's fine — the list exists to support the food, not steal the spotlight. Markups are fair, every bottle pours by the glass, and there are a few genuinely solid picks if you know where to look. Send a friend here for the Persian food and tell them to order the Allegrini.

Southern Bistro isn't trying to be a wine destination, and the list makes no bones about that — but the pricing is honest, the by-the-glass flexibility is real, and there are a couple of genuinely good picks buried in a list that mostly sticks to the familiar. If you're in Sandy Springs and want a glass of something decent without a fight, this works. Just don't come expecting discovery.

Pendolino is doing something genuinely interesting with a very short Italian wine list — prioritizing producers and regions that actually reward curiosity over safe crowd-pleasers. We don't have pricing or glass program details to fully vet the value story, but the selection alone earns our attention. If you're eating Italian in Sandy Springs and you want more than the usual suspects, this list is worth your time.

Brooklyn Cafe's wine list is doing more than it has to for a Sandy Springs neighborhood restaurant — the white selections alone, from Rudi Pichler to Merry Edwards, show real editorial intent. Pricing transparency is a question mark without confirmed figures, and the glass program is a mystery we couldn't resolve. Worth a visit if you're eating in the area; just go in ready to ask questions.

Roasters is here for the chicken, not the wine, and the list makes that abundantly clear. At fair price points for what's on offer, you won't feel robbed — but you also won't feel inspired. Order a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, eat the bird, and call it a night.

If you're at Battle & Brew, you're here to play games and drink something cold — and that's completely fine. The wine list exists to check a box, not to excite anyone. At $8/glass for anonymous house pours, the price is inoffensive, but there's nothing here to seek out. Order the Demon Slayer Sake, grab a controller, and don't lose any sleep over the wine program.

SakeTome's wine list is small, but it earns its Wild Card badge by making thoughtful choices most Montana restaurants wouldn't bother with — Austrian whites, obscure Italian reds, a Beaujolais that actually belongs at a sushi dinner. Pricing and by-the-glass details remain unconfirmed, which keeps it from climbing higher, but if you're eating sushi in Missoula and want something more interesting than a default Chardonnay, this list gives you real options.

Buckhead · Atlanta · Japanese / Sushi
Brush is doing something genuinely unusual: running a geographically adventurous wine program inside a polished omakase-capable sushi restaurant in Buckhead. The sommelier presence gives us real confidence in the curation, even if pricing likely skews upscale to match the room. If you're going for the uni carbonara udon or the wagyu mazamen, let whoever's working the floor guide you — that's exactly what they're there for.

Start with the $16 Ca' Vittoria Prosecco, or the $17 Pascal Biotteau Anjou Blanc if you want a white by the glass. If you book the omakase, the restaurant says a wine or sake pairing is an additional $50 for four 3 oz pours. Confirm current availability and prices.
