Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Seasons 52 lands like a polished chain restaurant doing its honest best — 100 bottles, 60 pours by the glass, and prices that won't make you flinch. It's more wine program than you'd expect from a suburban grill off Democracy Drive, even if the selections skew toward the reliable and familiar rather than the adventurous.
The list casts a wide international net — California, Washington State, New Zealand, Argentina, France, Spain, and even a South African Bordeaux blend in the De Toren Z — but the ambition is broader than it is deep. You're getting crowd-tested producers like Chateau Ste. Michelle and Spy Valley alongside California house pours like Screen Press Pinot Noir and Acquisition Cabernet Sauvignon. The standout curveball is the Alto Moncayo Garnacha from Aragon, Spain, which has no business being on a menu next to flatbreads and mini indulgences but earns its spot. There's no real cellar program, no aged bottles, and no serious Burgundy or Barolo presence — but that's not who this list is trying to be.
Sixty by-the-glass options is genuinely impressive and the main reason wine drinkers should pay attention here. Prices run $9.50 to $21 a glass, keeping most pours in the accessible range, and the breadth means you can genuinely explore rather than defaulting to the house Cab. The rotation appears fairly static — don't come expecting a weekly surprise — but the sheer volume of options covers nearly every mood at the table.
Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough — $13
Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc at this price point is a reliable overdeliverer — bright, zippy, and a natural companion to the lighter seasonal plates. Spy Valley is a solid producer and this is exactly what you want when you're not trying to think too hard.
Alto Moncayo Garnacha, Aragon, Spain
Most people at this table are ordering California Cab on autopilot. Meanwhile, Alto Moncayo is making serious, concentrated Garnacha from old vines in Aragon that most wine bars would charge a premium for. It's the most interesting bottle on this list by a wide margin and almost everyone walks right past it.
Narrative Chardonnay, California
Generic California Chardonnay with a label-forward name and nothing memorable behind it. With Chateau Ste. Michelle Mimi Chardonnay sitting right there on the same list — a better wine from a more defined place — there's no reason to default to this one.
Jean-Luc Colombo Cape Bleue Dry Rosé, France + Oak-Grilled Salmon
Colombo's rosé is dry and structured enough to handle the smokiness from the oak grill without drowning out the salmon. It's the kind of pairing that works because both things are doing the same thing — clean, focused, not trying to overpower the room.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Seasons 52 North Bethesda isn't a wine destination, but it's a genuinely functional wine program with fair prices and more variety than the suburban strip-mall setting would suggest. Send a friend here knowing they'll drink well without being taken advantage of — just steer them toward the Alto Moncayo.
Bethesda · Bethesda · American
This is a wine list for people who aren't really thinking about wine, and there's no shame in ordering a cocktail instead. If you're staying at the hotel, grab a glass at the bar and call it a night — just don't expect the list to reward any real attention.

Clyde's isn't a wine destination, but it's not trying to be — and the Monday half-price bottle deal genuinely redeems a list that would otherwise be hard to recommend at full price. Come for the vibe, come back on a Monday.

Yard House Gaithersburg is a craft beer destination that happens to sell wine — and the wine list knows it. Come for the taps, stay for the pretzels, and don't expect the Pinot Noir to surprise you.

McCormick & Schmick's Bethesda isn't a wine destination — it's a corporate seafood chain with a wine list to match, priced for convenience, not discovery. Order a cocktail, or bring a bottle if they allow corkage.

Bacchus of Lebanon isn't a wine destination by any stretch, but it's one of the few spots in Bethesda where you can drink actual Lebanese wine with Lebanese food — and that specificity matters. If you're even mildly curious about what the Bekaa Valley is doing, this is an approachable, affordable place to find out.

Spanish Diner Bethesda is a wildcard: a laid-back all-day spot with a wine list that has no business being this interesting. The markups keep it from being a destination wine play, but if you're in Bethesda and want to drink actual Spain with your tapas, this is your move.

De La Vega's Pecan Grill isn't a destination for wine lovers, but it's a perfectly decent place to drink well alongside a good steak in a warm setting. Go for the New Mexico pours, skip the Rombauer, and enjoy the orchard air.

Seasons 52 is a chain that takes its wine list more seriously than it has any obligation to, and the result is a reliable, if pricey, experience that outperforms most of its competition in the upscale casual lane. Send a friend here with confidence — just steer them away from the obvious bottles and toward the Petite Sirah.
