The wine list at Rumba arrives as a half-page afterthought tucked behind the cocktail menu, and honestly, that tracks. This is a tropical bar and grill — the rum drinks are the headliners. But the wine list is short, legible, and priced to match the vibe: nothing over $14 a glass, nothing that requires a decoder ring.
Twelve to twenty bottles, mostly California and New Zealand with a token German Riesling and an Italian Prosecco. You're looking at grocery-store-familiar names — Oyster Bay, Hess Select, J Lohr, Cycles Gladiator — which isn't a knock so much as a full admission that this list was built for people who know what they like and want it cold. There's no real regional exploration here, no orange wine curiosity, no nod to anything that grows in a tropical climate (a Malbec or a Torrontés from Argentina could have some real fun on a menu built around jerk chicken and coconut shrimp). The gaps are obvious, but the list covers its bases without embarrassing itself.
Six to eight pours running $9 to $14, which is genuinely reasonable for a Florida waterfront-adjacent spot in 2024. The Zonin Prosecco by the glass is a nice touch for a place with this energy — it fits. Rotation appears nonexistent; what's on the list today was probably on it last year.
Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc — $11
It's a workhorse SB that shows up everywhere, but at this price point in a Florida beach bar setting, it does exactly what you need — bright, citrusy, cold. Grab it with the coconut shrimp and don't overthink it.
Schmitt Sohne Riesling
Nobody at a Caribbean grill is ordering Riesling, which is exactly why you should. A touch of sweetness and bright acidity are practically made for jerk spice. It's sitting there ignored while everyone orders the Chardonnay.
Hess Select Chardonnay
It's fine, but Hess Select Chard is a $12 retail bottle and it'll taste exactly like you expect. Nothing wrong with it, but in a place that has a Riesling and a Prosecco on the same short list, picking the most anonymous Chardonnay on the menu feels like a waste of a glass.
Schmitt Sohne Riesling + Jerk Chicken
Heat plus residual sugar plus zippy acidity is a combination that works every single time. The Riesling cools the jerk spice without killing it, and you end up tasting both better.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Rumba isn't a wine destination and it has no ambitions to be one — it's a good-time tropical grill with a functional wine list that won't embarrass you or drain your wallet. Order the Riesling, watch the crowd, and let the rum drinks take it from there.
Westshore · Clearwater · Fine-dining steakhouse
The Capital Grille is a reliable machine — the wine program is competent, well-staffed, and properly executed, but the markups are steep and the list plays it extremely safe. Send a friend here for a business dinner, but tell them to order Jordan before anyone at the table reaches for the Opus One.

Fleming's is a reliable machine — excellent execution, real wine depth by-the-glass, staff that knows the list, and no surprises in a bad way. Just don't expect discovery; expect comfort, and budget accordingly for markup.

Guppy's won't win any awards for adventurous curation, but the list is fairly priced, thoughtfully stocked for a seafood crowd, and broad enough that everyone at the table finds something. Send a friend here for the grouper and tell them to drink the Cloudy Bay.

E&E Stakeout Grill is a perfectly decent neighborhood steakhouse wine list that asks too much on most nights — but Wine Wednesday flips the math entirely and makes this one of the better value plays in the Clearwater area. Come on a Wednesday, order the Chianti Classico, and you'll have zero complaints.

Clearwater Beach · Clearwater · Mediterranean and Mexican-inspired wine bar and bistro
This is the best wine program you're likely to find within walking distance of Clearwater Beach, and that's not faint praise — it's a genuine destination for the wine-curious crowd that usually has to settle for whatever's on draft. Wednesday's half-price U.S. bottle deal seals it: show up, order spaghetti, drink better than you planned.
