Happy Hour Pricing, Happy Hour List

Wingman Metrics
The wine list reads like someone ordered from the back page of a liquor store catalog and called it a day. Glass pours start at $8 during happy hour, which would be exciting if the selection wasn't so aggressively basic.
This is a list built for people who think Pinot Grigio is a varietal and Malbec is a region. We're talking Seaglass, Elouan, Waterbrook — brands you grab at Whole Foods when you're in a hurry. The sparkling selection tries harder with Gruet and Opera, but even those are table stakes. No depth, no regional exploration, no interesting producers. Just the greatest hits from Central Casting.
The happy hour pricing ($8 per glass) is aggressive enough to make the mediocre selection almost forgivable. Opera Brut at $8 is an actual steal. Outside happy hour, these same pours climb to prices that make zero sense for wines this pedestrian. Rotation seems nonexistent — this is a set-it-and-forget-it operation.
Opera Brut NV — $8
Happy hour only, but at this price it's the only thing on the list worth celebrating
Gruet Blanc de Noirs NV
New Mexico sparkler that punches above its weight — creamy, fruity, and actually interesting for $15
Elouan Rosé
At $8 it's a 60% markup on a wine that retails for $20 — the math doesn't math
Gruet Blanc de Noirs NV + Truffle & Wild Mushrooms Scramble
Earthy scramble needs bubbles with body — the Blanc de Noirs has enough richness to handle truffle without getting buried
❌ The Bottom Line
Hit it during happy hour for cheap bubbles and solid pricing, but don't expect any wine discoveries. This list exists to avoid complaints, not create conversations.
West Loop · Chicago · Californian
The Oakville Grill earns its Wine Spectator credential and the sommelier duo makes this list accessible, not intimidating. Wednesday half-price wine night alone is reason enough to get a reservation — just let go of the idea that anything other than California is on the agenda.

Terrace 16 earns its Wine Spectator badge and delivers a respectable, California-and-France-focused list in one of Chicago's most dramatic dining rooms. Just don't expect to be surprised — the wine is as reliable as the skyline view, and nearly as expensive.

Indienne is the Wild Card in the truest sense — a fusion kitchen with a genuinely considered wine program that earns its Wine Spectator nod. Yes, send a friend here for wine, but make sure they skip the Napa Cab and lead with Riesling.

BLVD Steakhouse doesn't reinvent the steakhouse wine list, but it executes the formula competently — solid producers, proper storage, and enough range to keep a table of Cab loyalists happy all night. Just go in with your eyes open on the markups and skip the trophy-bottle trap.

Adorn is a reliable, well-staffed wine program in a high-overhead setting — you're paying for the view and the address, but the list itself is legitimate. Send a friend here who wants solid French and California bottles without doing homework first.

Catablu is exactly what it needs to be for its neighborhood — a reliable, thoughtfully maintained list that won't embarrass you on a date night or bore you entirely. It's not a destination wine list, but it's a solid supporting act for a kitchen that clearly takes food seriously.

BJ's is a fine place to drink a craft beer and eat a Pizookie. It is not a place to drink wine. Order a Brewhouse Blonde, skip the wine list entirely, and save your wine night for somewhere that cares.

The Cheesecake Factory is a perfectly fine place to eat — the wine list just isn't a reason to go. Order a cocktail, split a bottle of Santa Margherita if you must, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere that earned it.
