The wine list at Prime arrives looking the part — upscale steakhouse, waterfront setting, leather-bound menu energy. It's built to comfort, not challenge. You know exactly what you're getting before you flip to the second page.
The list pulls from the usual suspects: American bottles doing the heavy lifting, French and Italian selections filling in the middle, and a genuinely interesting fortified wine section that deserves more attention than it probably gets. The core list runs 80–150 labels, which sounds robust until you realize the range skews safe — think big reds from California and crowd-favorite Bordeaux appellations rather than anything that'll make you lean forward. The real bright spot is the dessert wine lineup: Dow's Port at multiple age points, Royal Tokaji, and Sandeman Madeira suggest someone in the building actually cares about how a meal ends. The main list, though, plays it predictably for a tourist-heavy steakhouse ZIP code.
Eight to fourteen pours by the glass is a workable range, and at a place where the average entrée runs $50–$60, you'd hope the glass program keeps pace — though at $14–$24 a pour, you're paying marina-view pricing on bottles that retail for less than you'd like to imagine. Rotation appears minimal; this reads as a set-and-forget program rather than one that gets refreshed with any regularity.
Dow's Ruby Port — $14–$18 (est. glass)
If you're finishing a ribeye and want something that earns its place on the table, the Ruby Port is your move. It's affordable, classically structured, and one of the few pours here that feels like it's priced without a sunset tax.
Royal Tokaji Late Harvest (375mL)
Most tables never even get to the dessert wine page, and that's a shame. This Hungarian late harvest in half-bottle format is the kind of thing you'd pay a premium for at a wine bar in Budapest — here it's sitting quietly at the end of a steakhouse menu in Key West. Order it with the cheese course or anything with a caramel note and thank us later.
Bogle Petit Sirah Port
Bogle makes solid, honest wine — but their Petit Sirah Port is a $15 retail bottle, and a steakhouse in the Historic Seaport isn't going to let it leave the building at anything close to that. When you've got Dow's 10, 20, and 40 Year Tawny on the same list, there's no reason to reach for this one.
Dow's 20 Year Old Tawny Port + Bone-in Cowboy Ribeye
Hear us out: a post-steak Tawny isn't a dessert move, it's a digestif strategy. The 20 Year Tawny has enough oxidative nuttiness and dried fruit complexity to hold its own after a fatty, char-crusted cowboy cut. It's the kind of finish that makes the whole meal feel intentional.

Prime is a reliable pour for a classic steakhouse night out — the fortified wine selection is genuinely worth exploring, but don't expect the main list to surprise you or the markup to do you any favors. Send a friend here for the steak and the sunset; just make sure they save room for a Tawny.

Bagatelle is doing more with wine than most restaurants in the Keys bother to attempt, and for a tourist-heavy Duval Street address, that matters. The markups are real and the list skews safe-prestige, but if you're in Key West and want a proper bottle with your lobster, this is where you go.

Thirsty Mermaid is a Wild Card in the best sense — a no-frills raw bar that somehow sourced a wine list worthy of a much fancier room. The markups on the high-end bottles are steep and there's no wine program energy to speak of, but the Cava-and-oysters combination alone is worth the stop.

Moondog isn't a wine destination, and it doesn't pretend to be — but it offers a surprisingly considered little list at prices that don't insult your intelligence, which puts it well ahead of the tourist-trap cafes clustered around it. If you're in Old Town and want a glass with your morning or a light lunch, there are worse decisions you'll make in Key West.
