Walk into Virgilio's expecting a martini bar and you'll be pleasantly surprised: there's a real wine list here, 50 labels deep, with Italian whites and Chardonnay getting serious shelf space. For a cocktail lounge on the most chaotic strip in Key West, that's not nothing. The vibe is upscale and candlelit, which at least gives the wine a fighting chance.
The list leans white, hard — and honestly, in a Key West summer, that's the right call. Italian whites are the highlight: Pieropan Soave Classico at $53, Andrea Felici Verdicchio at $48, and Umani Ronchi Pecorino at $38 show genuine curatorial intent, not just a box-check. Chardonnay gets its own runway, ranging from the pedestrian Kendall-Jackson Vintner's Reserve at $44 all the way up to Cakebread Cellars at $91, with Sonoma-Cutrer and Raeburn in between. Sauvignon Blanc holds its own with Hall and Saint Clair alongside the more accessible Whitehaven. What's missing is any real red depth or sparkling presence, but this list knows what it is and plays to its strengths.
Thirteen by-the-glass options is a respectable pour program for a cocktail lounge. Prices run $10–$16/glass, with entry points like the Perrin Le Grand Prébois Rosé and Fess Parker Riesling both at $10 and the Ramon Bilbao Albariño at $11. The glass list skews toward crowd-pleasers, but the Harken Barrel Fermented Chardonnay at $12 adds a bit of texture for those who want something with more weight.

Key West Winery is a Wild Card because the concept itself is the draw — tropical fruit wines in the Florida Keys is exactly as niche and fun as it sounds, and it earns its badge on novelty alone. We wouldn't send a serious wine drinker here as a primary destination, but if you're already in Old Town and curious about what local winemaking looks like when grapes aren't the star, it's worth a tasting flight. Go in with the right expectations and you'll leave entertained; go in looking for a Côte de Nuits and you'll leave confused.
