Fifteen bottles, fifteen pours — every wine on the list is available by the glass, which is either brilliant or suspicious depending on your mood. For a tap-and-pizza spot in Truckee, the names on this list have no business being this interesting. Grüner Veltliner, Crémant de Bourgogne, Tablas Creek — someone here is paying attention.
The list punches well above its weight class for a mountain casual spot. You've got Austrian whites (Pratsch Grüner Veltliner 2021), Burgundian bubbles (Victorine de Chastenay Crémant de Bourgogne Brut Rosé), Italian reds (Tiamo Barbera, Noceto Sangiovese, Bertolani Lambrusco), and a local shoutout with the Truckee Family Wines White Barn Pinot Grigio 2024. The California contingent is solid without being lazy — Tablas Creek Grenache Alouette, Long Meadow Ranch Sauvignon Blanc, and Pali Pinot Noir all have credibility behind them. The only real gap is depth: there's no older vintage, no half-bottle program, and nothing over $64 for the collector-curious crowd.
The entire list is by the glass, ranging from $11 to $16, which is genuinely refreshing when everywhere else is charging $18 for something forgettable. At $11 a glass, the Bertolani Lambrusco Oro and Klinker Brick Rosé are easy entry points, while the $15 Tablas Creek Grenache Alouette is the ceiling and worth every penny of it.

If you're passing through Truckee and want something more interesting than a resort bar pour, this is your move — just come in ready to drink their stuff on their terms.

Stella is quietly running one of the more serious wine lists in the Truckee-Tahoe corridor, anchored by a sparkling section that would hold its own in a San Francisco wine bar and priced without the mountain-town surcharge you might expect. We don't know enough about the service experience or the glass program to call it a Rager, but as a Wild Card — a tasting menu spot in ski country with actual wine ambition — it earns the badge. If you're headed up the mountain, this is the list worth planning around.

Bar of America is a reliable wine stop in a mountain town that could easily get away with serving mediocre wine at inflated prices — and to its credit, it mostly doesn't. The markup is fair, the Chardonnay selection is deeper than it needs to be, and the Scharffenberger at $52 is worth ordering. If you want adventure, look elsewhere; if you want a dependable glass after a day on the slopes, this works.
