Nine labels. That's the whole wine list at a major steakhouse chain — nine. You open it expecting the weight of a serious program and instead get a laminated shortlist that reads like someone curated the wine wall at a mid-tier grocery store. It's not offensive, but for a place charging steakhouse prices, the ambition simply isn't there.
The list leans almost entirely on California, which tracks for a steakhouse crowd, but the range stops there — no Bordeaux, no Barolo, no Malbec, nothing from the old world at all. You've got three Cabernets from Austin Hope, Daou Reserve, and Rombauer, which are all perfectly decent bottles you've seen at every restaurant in a 50-mile radius. Merry Edwards Cuvee '78 is the most interesting pick on the list and feels slightly out of place in the best possible way. The Northstar Merlot is a nod to Washington, which is the closest thing to a curveball here.
By-the-glass specifics weren't available during our research, so we can't confirm what's actually poured versus what's bottle-only. That ambiguity on its own is a yellow flag — a confident wine program tells you exactly what's on tap by the glass.
