Wingman Metrics
The list is short — eight wines plus a sherry program that would make a Jerez bar nod in approval. This isn't a place trying to cover all its bases; it's a place that knows exactly what it is and leans in hard. Kingston didn't ask for this, but it needed it.
Mirador's wine list reads like someone actually cares about the Iberian Peninsula and not just the crowd-pleasing corners of it. You've got Galicia covered with an Albariño on tap (yes, tap), Catalonia shows up with the Azimut Cava Brut Nature, and Valencia gets a seat at the table with the Viña Elena Paraje Marín 2023. The sherry program is the real story here — González Byass Viña AB 12yr Amontillado, Rey Fernando de Castilla Antíque Palo Cortado, and César Florido Cruz del Mar Oloroso 12yr aren't names you stumble across on a random Tuesday in upstate New York. Gaps exist — no Rioja, no Ribera, nothing from Portugal — but the focus feels intentional rather than lazy.
Everything on the list appears to be available by the glass, which is either ambitious or a sign the turnover is fast enough to keep things fresh. Prices run $14–$18 a glass, which is reasonable for the quality level on offer — the Bodegas Barbadillo Sumatorio Añada 2020 at $16 a glass is the kind of thing you'd pay more for in a Manhattan wine bar without blinking. The sherry pours in the same range deserve serious attention and are priced for exploration rather than intimidation.
Katas Albariño (tap) — $14/glass
Albariño on tap keeps it fresh and the price honest — $14 for a well-sourced Galician white that you can order freely without doing mental math is the move at a tapas spot.
Rey Fernando de Castilla Antíque Palo Cortado
Palo Cortado is the rarest sherry style — it starts as Fino, loses its flor, and develops in a direction winemakers can't really control. Most diners skip it because they don't know what it is. That's a mistake. Order it after your meal and thank us later.
Viña Elena Paraje Marín 2023
At $60 a bottle, this Valencia red is the priciest bottle on the list and the least compelling reason to be here. With no retail price to compare against and the sherry program sitting right there, there are better ways to spend that money at this table.
González Byass 'Viña AB' 12yr Amontillado + Jamón and Manchego board
Aged Amontillado has that nutty, oxidative depth that mirrors the complexity of cured ham and aged cheese — it's the classic Andalucían combination for a reason, and Mirador is one of the few places in the Hudson Valley where you can actually pull it off.

The Bottom Line
Mirador is punching well above its weight for Kingston — a focused, Spain-obsessed list with a sherry program that earns genuine respect and prices that don't punish curiosity. Go on a Monday, order the Palo Cortado, and tell your friends.

Restaurant Kinsley is a hotel restaurant that treats wine as a utility — something to have on the table, not something to think about. The $10 flat pricing is fair and the Crémant is a bright spot, but five labels with no rotation and no depth is a hard sell if wine is part of why you're going out. Drink the bubbles, enjoy the room, and don't come here expecting a wine experience.

Lola Pizza isn't trying to be a wine bar, but it's clearly not phoning in the list either. The natural wine orientation and Italian varietal focus are smart choices for the food coming out of that kitchen. We'd go back — and we'd let the list surprise us.

Los Jalapenos isn't trying to be a wine destination, and the list makes that abundantly clear. At $7 a glass across the board the pricing is hard to argue with, but when you don't know what producer you're drinking, cheap doesn't feel like a win — it just feels anonymous. Order a margarita and save the wine night for somewhere else.

Brunette is exactly the kind of neighborhood wine bar that mid-size cities desperately need — small, smart, and staffed by people who can actually talk to you about what's in the glass. The France-and-Germany backbone, the jewel-box intimacy, and the knowledgeable staff make this a genuinely worthwhile stop in Kingston, especially if you're pairing a pour with the baked oysters or working through the charcuterie. We'd send a friend here without hesitation.

Kingston Wine Co. is not trying to be everything to everyone — it stocks twenty bottles of stuff its buyers actually believe in, prices them honestly, and trusts you to figure out the rest. If you're in the Hudson Valley and you care about what's in your glass, this is a mandatory stop. Walk in, pick up the Leclair Gamay and the Tenuta Sella, and thank us later.

Boulevard Diner is almost certainly a perfectly fine place to eat a stack of pancakes or a club sandwich. The wine list, however, is an afterthought — six anonymous varietals with no pricing, no producers, and no personality. Order the coffee.

Barcelona Wine Bar Fairfield has built a sparkling wine program that punches way above what you'd expect from a suburban tapas chain — the cava and Corpinnat depth is legitimately impressive. Come for the bubbles, stay for the jamón.
