The wine list at Mellow Mushroom Gatlinburg is basically a greatest hits album from the grocery store checkout aisle — and not the good grocery store. You see it, you recognize every name on it, and you feel absolutely nothing. This is a beer-and-pizza spot that happens to stock wine, and it shows.
Ten to fifteen wines, tops, drawn almost entirely from the same shortlist of corporate crowd-pleasers that show up on every casual chain's list from here to Anchorage. California, Italy, and New Zealand get token representation via Josh Cellars, Santa Margherita, Kim Crawford, and Meiomi — reliable brands built more for shelf recognition than for the glass. There's no regional curiosity, no independent producer, nothing that suggests anyone with wine knowledge had any input here. The list exists because someone in corporate decided it had to, not because anyone in Gatlinburg demanded better.
Six pours by the glass, ranging from $8 to $12, which sounds accessible until you realize what's in the glass. These are wines that retail for $10–$15 a bottle, so even at the low end of their pour pricing, the markup is doing some heavy lifting. Rotation appears nonexistent — this list is set, forgotten, and dusted off only when someone actually orders wine.
Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc — $8
At $8 a glass it's still marked up, but Kim Crawford is at least a clean, reliable pour that works with the lighter pizza options. If you're drinking wine here, this is probably your least painful exit.
Meiomi Pinot Noir
Nobody comes to Mellow Mushroom for Pinot Noir, and honestly that's fair — but Meiomi is a crowd-friendly, slightly sweet California Pinot that holds its own against a meat-heavy pizza in a way the Cab usually doesn't. Overlooked because no one thinks to order it here.
Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon
Josh Cellars Cab is everywhere, costs about $13 retail, and at $10–$12 a glass here the math just doesn't work. It's a fine enough bottle on your own couch, but paying restaurant markup for a brand that markets itself on TV ads is a hard pass.
Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc + Kosmic Karma Pizza
The Kosmic Karma comes loaded with roasted garlic, artichoke hearts, and sun-dried tomatoes — a lot of bright, acidic flavors that need something with enough zip to keep up. Kim Crawford's grassy, citrus-forward profile doesn't get steamrolled by the toppings the way a heavier red would.

Mellow Mushroom Gatlinburg is a genuinely fun spot for pizza and a cold beer — lean into that and you'll have a great time. The wine list, though, is an afterthought dressed up as a menu section, and no amount of hippie décor changes that math.

Loco Burro is a great spot for a frozen margarita on a Smoky Mountain rooftop — the wine list is just not the reason you're here, and no one pretends otherwise. Order a cocktail, enjoy the view, and save your serious wine curiosity for a different night.

The Greenbrier is doing exactly what a fine dining steakhouse in a national park tourist corridor should do with wine — keeping it approachable, stocking names people recognize, and not getting too weird about it. It's not a wine destination, but it won't embarrass itself either; send a friend who wants a solid Cab with a great steak and a mountain view.

The Best Italian's wine list does exactly what it needs to do: keep casual diners happy, not drain wallets, and get out of the way of the garlic knots. We wouldn't drive to Gatlinburg for the wine, but if you're already there and want something decent with dinner, you'll be fine.

Tennessee Homemade Wines isn't trying to be a serious wine destination and it's better for it — this is a fun, honest, local-first tasting room that delivers exactly what Gatlinburg visitors are actually looking for. Send your friends here if they want a taste of Appalachian winemaking culture, not if they're chasing a Riedel-and-Rhône experience.

This isn't a destination for serious wine drinkers, and it knows that — Smoky Mountain Winery is a cheerful, unpretentious regional stop that delivers exactly what it promises. If you're in Gatlinburg and curious about Tennessee fruit wines, this is the place; if you're hunting for a serious cellar, keep driving.

The Peddler is a legitimately great steakhouse experience in a gorgeous setting, and the wine list is competent enough to get the job done — but it's a supporting cast, not a destination. Order the Jordan, get the steak, enjoy the river view, and don't expect the list to surprise you.
