Mall wine that doesn't embarrass itself
Mall of Abilene · Abilene · Wine Bar / Small Plates

Wingman Metrics
A wine bar inside a Texas mall sounds like a punchline, but hear us out — this place actually tries. The list skews recognizable and safe, which makes sense when your foot traffic includes people who just returned a pair of jeans and stumbled in for a glass of something.
The list pulls from California, Italy, France, and a nod to Texas, which is about as broad as you'd expect for a 50-to-100-bottle program aimed at casual drinkers. What you won't find here is anything adventurous — no natural wines, no obscure regions, no grower Champagne. The anchor producers are names you'd recognize from a grocery store endcap: Josh Cellars, Santa Margherita, La Marca. Texas wines get a token presence, which is at least locally conscientious even if the selections aren't pushing boundaries.
With 15 to 25 pours by the glass, there's enough here to build a light evening without committing to a bottle. The options mirror the list — approachable, brand-forward, nothing that'll make you call a friend. Rotation doesn't appear to be a priority, so don't expect seasonal surprises.
La Marca Prosecco — null
No price data available, but La Marca by the glass at a mall bistro is almost always the smartest order — fresh, crowd-pleasing, and hard to mess up. If you're here for small plates and light conversation, this is your move.
Texas wine selection
Most people will reach for the California staples without glancing at the Texas section. Ask what's local — even a modest Texas red with a charcuterie board is a more interesting story than another Josh Cellars pour.
Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio
It's the most overpriced-for-what-it-is Pinot Grigio in existence, and restaurants mark it up like it's a trophy. There are almost certainly better-value whites on this list — don't let brand recognition run your wallet.
Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon + Charcuterie Board
It's not the most exciting combo, but Josh Cab's soft tannins and jammy fruit hold up to cured meats and aged cheese without overwhelming them. Reliable, easy, gets the job done — just like the restaurant itself.
✔️ The Bottom Line
For a wine bar inside a shopping mall in Abilene, this clears the bar more comfortably than you'd expect. Don't come looking for anything to geek out over, but if you want a decent glass and a charcuterie board mid-errand run, it delivers.
Downtown · Abilene · Steakhouse
Cattleman's Exchange isn't a wine destination, but it's not a disaster either — it's a hotel steakhouse doing hotel steakhouse things. If you're in Abilene and need a Cab with your beef, you'll find something that works; just don't expect the list to surprise you.

Skip the wine, order the biscuits — but if you have to pick something, grab the Kendall-Jackson and call it a night. Red Lobster isn't trying to be a wine destination, and this list makes absolutely no effort to pretend otherwise.

Abuelo's isn't a wine destination and it has no interest in becoming one — the margaritas are the point and the wine list exists mostly as a formality. If you're committed to wine with your enchiladas, grab the Joel Gott and move on.

Beehive is a solid steakhouse that simply doesn't care about wine — and the list proves it. Order the ribeye, get a whiskey or a beer, and save the wine enthusiasm for somewhere that returns the favor.
