The list at Louie's is short — 18 labels — but it's honest about what it is: a casual riverside bar that wants you to have a glass with your burger without overthinking it. There's a clear Pacific Northwest lean here, which makes sense given the address. No pretense, no deep-cuts rabbit hole, just approachable wine for a relaxed crowd.
Oregon shows up consistently, with Del Rio Chardonnay and Cooper Hill Organic Pinot Gris holding down the white side alongside the interesting Abacela Albariño — a nod to Southern Oregon's underrated wine country. The reds are thin: Elouan Pinot Noir is the recognizable name, and Passive Aggressive Syrah/Tempranillo is the lone adventurous pick on an otherwise safe list. There's no real Burgundy, no Italian, no Rhône, and Bordeaux is completely absent — but that's not really the point here. Abacela is a legitimate Southern Oregon producer doing serious work with Albariño — a grape they've championed in the Umpqua Valley for decades. Getting this by the glass at the low end of the price range is a quiet win. Order it.
Passive Aggressive Syrah/Tempranillo, Oregon
Most people at a bar-grill glance past anything with a cheeky name, but this blend is the most interesting red on the list. Oregon Syrah with Tempranillo is an unusual combination that punches above its casual branding — worth a try before you default to the Elouan.
Elouan Pinot Noir, Oregon
Elouan is everywhere — grocery stores, chain restaurants, airport wine bars. It's not bad, but it's the most mass-market move on this list, and with Passive Aggressive sitting right next to it, there's simply a more interesting choice available for the same spend.
Bernard Griffin Rosé of Sangiovese, Washington + Burger
A Sangiovese-based rosé has just enough acidity and bright red-fruit character to cut through a juicy burger without getting steamrolled by it. It's the kind of pairing that works precisely because neither element is trying too hard.
