A wine list at a ski resort Mexican spot isn't something you walk in expecting to write home about — but Los Arcos keeps it honest. Fifteen-ish bottles, recognizable names, prices that won't make you choke on your chips. It's not trying to be a wine bar; it knows exactly what it is.
The list leans hard on California with a few crowd-pleasing labels — Louis M. Martini Cab from Sonoma, Trefethen Merlot out of Napa, La Crema Chardonnay doing its reliable thing. The D'Alfonso Curran Pinot from Santa Barbara is the most interesting bottle here, and it's surrounded mostly by names you'd recognize from a grocery store endcap. There's a token international presence with Jermann's Collio from Friuli and La Marca Prosecco, plus a Moët split for the après-ski crowd. No depth to speak of, but no embarrassments either.
Nine pours by the glass is genuinely solid for a casual resort Mexican joint. The $6 house pour gives a budget escape hatch, and most options clock in at $8–$12 — reasonable for Northstar territory, where a lift ticket costs more than your entire wine tab. Rotation appears static, so don't expect seasonal surprises.
D'Alfonso Curran Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara — $12
Santa Barbara Pinot at this price point, in a ski resort restaurant, is a genuine find. Curran makes honest, food-friendly wine and this is the bottle most worth your attention on the list.
Jermann Collio, Italy
Jermann is a serious Friulian producer that most people at this table have never heard of. It's almost certainly a white blend and it's the one bottle here that didn't come from a California supermarket shelf. Order it before someone else notices.
Moët & Chandon Champagne split
Splits are always a markup trap and resort restaurants are the worst offenders. You're paying for the pop, not the pour. Grab the Prosecco if you want bubbles and keep the change.
D'Alfonso Curran Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara + Carne Asada
Santa Barbara Pinot has the fruit and enough structure to stand up to grilled beef without bulldozing the chili and citrus notes in the marinade. It's a lighter red that plays nice with the whole plate.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Los Arcos isn't destination wine drinking, but it's doing more than most Mexican spots at altitude bother to do. If you're coming off the mountain and want something decent in the glass without a resort markup nightmare, it delivers.

Rubicon isn't trying to be a wine destination, and it doesn't pretend to be one — it's a family-friendly pizza spot in a ski village with a list that keeps the table happy without breaking the experience. Order the Chianti, eat the pizza, and save the deep-dive wine conversation for somewhere with a cellar.

Zander's is the kind of place that rewards curious drinkers who want something local and unpretentious without getting talked down to. If you're passing through Truckee and want a real wine experience instead of a ski resort markup, this is your stop.

Sunnyside is a casual lodge restaurant wearing a serious wine list under its flannel — the markup is steep and it won't win any awards for staff expertise, but the producer lineup is legitimately impressive for where you're sitting. If you're already at the lake, this is absolutely worth ordering a real bottle.

The Bistro's wine list is exactly what you'd expect from a luxury ski resort: well-stored, competently poured, and priced for people who are already spending a lot on lodging. If you came here for wine discovery, wrong mountain — but if you want a solid glass of California Cab next to a fire with a view of the Sierra Nevada, you'll be just fine.

The Grille has a wine program that would hold its own in a proper city restaurant, which makes it a legitimate reason to seek out this lodge beyond just the mountain access. Markups are real and the Dom can stay on the shelf, but the Coravin program and the depth of California selections make this a genuine Wild Card worth your attention.

The Lodge surprises — in the best way — with a wine list that has no business being this considered at a neighborhood golf course restaurant in the Sierra. Markups creep toward steep on the prestige bottles, but the depth and range here beat 90% of similarly-priced mountain dining rooms. Worth the detour if you're in Truckee and want something more than a grocery store Cabernet with your ribeye.

Santa Fe Kingston isn't a wine bar and doesn't pretend to be — but the prices are fair, every bottle is available by the glass, and Tuesday's half-price wine night turns a perfectly ordinary list into a genuinely good deal. Go on Tuesday, order the Malbec, skip the Dark Horse.
