Wingman Metrics
Walking up to LaVelle's market tasting room, you already know the deal: this is a single-producer list, and it's not pretending to be anything else. Ten wines, all LaVelle, all priced like the winery actually wants you to buy a bottle. That kind of honesty is disarming in the best way.
The list spans the Willamette Valley's greatest hits — Pinot Noir in two expressions (the vineyard-designated Demming Ridge and the approachable Four Brothers, with both 2021 and 2023 vintages available), Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and a Riesling that clocks in at the same $35 entry price. The curve balls are a Cherry Blossom Rosé, a White Pinot Noir, and — notably for Oregon — a Cabernet Franc and a Cabernet Sauvignon, which speaks to some warmer-site ambition from the LaVelle team. It's tight and intentional rather than sprawling, which works fine when the producer knows their land. The dual Four Brothers Pinot Noir vintages on the list at the same price is a rare opportunity to taste how a growing season shapes a wine.
By-the-glass specifics aren't published, but at a tasting room format, pours are the whole point — expect flights or individual tastes rather than a traditional glass menu. If you're looking to work through the lineup without committing to a bottle, this is the right venue for exactly that.
LaVelle Vineyards Riesling 2025 — $35
Oregon Riesling at $35 is already undersold nationally, and getting it direct from the producer at this price is about as close to drinking at cost as you'll get. Riesling from the Willamette punches well above its asking price, and this one doesn't have a restaurant markup stacked on top of it.
LaVelle Vineyards Cabernet Franc 2022
Everyone comes to Oregon for Pinot and leaves the Cab Franc sitting there. At $48, this is the most ambitious bottle on the list and easily the most overlooked — Oregon Cab Franc is a legit thing, and the 2022 vintage had the heat to ripen it properly. Most people walk past it. Don't.
LaVelle Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
Oregon and Cabernet Sauvignon have a complicated relationship, and at $45 you could be drinking the Demming Ridge Pinot Noir instead. Unless you're already a LaVelle loyalist curious about their red program, this is the one bottle on the list where the region and the grape are working against each other.
LaVelle Vineyards Demming Ridge Pinot Noir 2023 + Charcuterie or local cheese board
A vineyard-designated Willamette Pinot Noir at $40 with a proper cheese and charcuterie spread is the tasting room move. The Demming Ridge has the structure to hold up against something funky and aged, and you're not competing with a full kitchen — you're letting the wine do the talking.
The Bottom Line
LaVelle's market outpost is a no-nonsense winery tasting room with honest prices and a focused list that rewards curious drinkers willing to look past the Pinot Noir. If you're in Eugene and want to spend $40 on something local and real, this is an easy yes.

Elizabeth's has built something unusual — a wine list with a genuine point of view, even if that point of view locks out anyone not already on board with Oregon Pinot. If you love Willamette Valley and want to explore a few different vineyard expressions without leaving your chair, this is your spot. Everyone else should probably call ahead.

Cal Young / Oakway Center · Eugene · Wine bar and bistro with small plates
Broadway Wine Merchants is the kind of place Eugene doesn't deserve to have tucked into a shopping center — a real wine program, a knowledgeable staff, and enough Oregon representation to make the locals proud. If you're anywhere near Oakway and you care about what's in your glass, this is a no-brainer stop.

B2 isn't trying to be a wine destination and doesn't need to be — it's a neighborhood spot with a list that respects both the region and your wallet. Send a friend here and tell them to order the Owen Roe Syrah before someone else does.

Valley River / North Eugene · Eugene · Japanese, teppanyaki, sushi
Fuji is a genuinely fun night out — the teppanyaki show is the main event and it delivers — but the wine list is strictly an afterthought, with steep markups on uninspired brands and zero connection to the cuisine or the local Oregon wine scene. Order the Riesling or the plum wine, enjoy the fire, and don't overthink it.

Kirin isn't a wine destination and it doesn't pretend to be — but the prices are fair and the Riesling with your General Tso's is a quiet win. Order accordingly and keep your expectations calibrated.

Makoto's wine list is exactly what it is — a small, sensible selection built for a neighborhood Japanese spot that cares more about the food than the cellar. Order the Riesling, don't overthink it, and you'll leave happy.
