Great Margaritas, Forgettable Wine List

Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Juanita's feels like an afterthought stapled to the back of a very good cocktail menu. You'll spot a handful of recognizable grocery store names and not much else. This place has its heart in the right place — it's just not beating for wine drinkers.
The list is essentially a parade of mass-market California brands: Kendall-Jackson, Josh Cellars, Ecco Domani, Cupcake, Woodbridge, Stella Rosa. There's a token nod to something slightly more interesting with the Father John 1908 MMXX California red blend, but even that's a lone ranger in a sea of supermarket staples. No regional Texas producers, no Old World representation, nothing that suggests anyone curated this with intention. If you came hoping for a wine that complements the depth of a good poblano cream sauce, you're mostly on your own.
By-the-glass specifics aren't published, but given the bottle list, expect the usual suspects poured in whatever glasses are handy that night. We wouldn't hold your breath for a rotating BTG program or anything seasonal — this feels like a static pour situation.
Stella Rosa Black NV — $30
Look, it's not a great value at 131% over retail, but it's the least egregious markup on the list and the sweet, low-alcohol profile actually plays nicely against spicy Tex-Mex heat. If you have to pick something here, this is the least painful choice.
Father John 1908 MMXX
It's the only wine on this list that isn't stocked at every H-E-B in Texas. A California red blend with actual personality — most people will default to Josh Cab and miss this entirely. Worth asking about.
Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon NV
At $24 a bottle for something that retails for $8, this is a 200% markup on a wine you genuinely should not be paying more than $10 for anywhere on earth. Order a margarita instead — it'll be better and cheaper.
Stella Rosa Black NV + Beef fajita enchiladas with poblano cream sauce
The slight sweetness in Stella Rosa Black takes some edge off the smoky heat from the poblano cream sauce. It's not a sophisticated pairing, but it works, and that's about as much as this list can offer.
❌ The Bottom Line
Juanita's is genuinely a fun spot for food and drinks — just make sure those drinks are margaritas. The wine list is overpriced, under-thought, and exists mostly to check a box; send your wine-loving friends here for the fajitas and the bar program, not the Chardonnay.
Century Square · College Station · Rooftop Bar
12 Rooftop Bar is a great place to watch the sunset and drink something cold — but if wine is your reason for coming, you're going to be disappointed. Order a cocktail, enjoy the view, and save the wine night for somewhere else.

Pablo's is a solid taco spot that treats wine as a legal obligation rather than a point of pride. Order the margarita, enjoy the tacos, and if you must have wine, grab the Masi and call it a night.

J. Cody's is clearly here for the meat, not the wine — and honestly, that's fine, but at least price the bottles fairly if you're going to phone it in. Order a Shiner Bock, eat the brisket, and save your wine curiosity for somewhere that returns the favor.

This is not a wine destination, and Red Lobster isn't pretending otherwise. If someone in your group insists on wine with their Cheddar Bay Biscuits, point them toward the Riesling and move on.

Fish Daddy's wine list is the dining equivalent of a reliable pickup truck — it gets you where you're going without any fuss, but don't expect it to take any scenic routes. Send a friend here for the seafood; just coach them on where to spend and where to save on the wine list.

Casa Garcia's is a solid Tex-Mex spot where the wine list is purely an afterthought — and that's fine, because the margaritas and food are the whole point. Come for the menudo, not the Merlot.

Jose Pepper's is a great spot for a frozen margarita and a chimichanga — the wine list just isn't why you're here, and it knows it. Order the cocktails and don't look back.

Superior Grill is the Wild Card precisely because nobody expects a Tex-Mex place on Line Avenue to stock Cakebread and Merry Edwards alongside a $6 house pour — but here we are. Tuesday half-price wine at the bar is one of the better deals in Shreveport, full stop.
