Wingman Metrics
You walk into a West End sports bar expecting Kendall-Jackson and leave genuinely surprised. Jake's is running a 130-label list with Sassicaia and ChΓ’teau Latour tucked in alongside the burgers and prime rib. This is not what the TVs and bar stools suggest.
The list leans hard into Napa β Caymus Special Selection, Opus One, Joseph Phelps Insignia, and Stags Leap Cask 23 are all present and accounted for, which is legitimately impressive for a neighborhood grill in Billings. They've also reached into Burgundy for the Bouzereau Chassagne-Montrachet and pulled in Sassicaia from Tuscany, giving the list some real international texture. Pacific Northwest representation covers Columbia Valley, Walla Walla, and Willamette Valley, which rounds things out nicely for the regional crowd. The gaps are on the value end β this list is stacked at the top but can feel thin if you're not ready to spend.
By-the-glass specifics weren't available at time of review, which is a miss for a list this size. A 130-label book with an unclear pour program suggests the BTG selection may not be the star of the show here. If you're going glass-for-glass on a casual visit, ask your server what's open β otherwise commit to a bottle.
Chateau Montelena Chardonnay β null
Pricing wasn't confirmed, but Montelena's Napa Chardonnay is a benchmark bottle that typically retails around $40-$50. On a list loaded with $100+ heavy-hitters, this is your best shot at old-school Napa quality without the trophy-wine markup β restrained, mineral, and built for a steakhouse table.
Bouzereau Chassagne-Montrachet
Most people at Jake's are scanning for Cabernet and walking right past this. Chassagne-Montrachet from Bouzereau is proper white Burgundy on a Montana steakhouse list β that's genuinely rare. Order it while it lasts.
Dom Perignon Brut
Dom at a bar-and-grill is almost always a pricing trap. Restaurant markups on trophy Champagne like this routinely hit 3-4x retail, and the setting doesn't justify the splurge. If you want bubbles, find something else on the list.
Stags Leap Wine Cellars Cask 23 + Prime Rib
Cask 23 is one of Napa's most elegant Cabernets β structured but not blunt, with the kind of dark fruit and fine tannins that don't bulldoze well-marbled beef. Prime rib is exactly what this wine was made to sit next to.
π² The Bottom Line
Jake's is punching well above its casual-grill weight class with a list that includes legitimate trophy bottles and some smart international picks. Just know the pricing skews toward the top end, and bring your appetite for both steak and Cab.

Outback's wine list is corporate on purpose β it's designed to be inoffensive, not interesting. Order the Koonunga Hill with your steak, and save your real wine curiosity for a restaurant that returns the favor.

The prices are shockingly low, and credit where it's due β but a steal on mediocre wine is still mediocre wine. Come for the Cheddar Bay Biscuits, skip the wine list, and save your real bottle for somewhere that cares.

Olive Garden's wine list is exactly what it is β a corporate-approved selection designed to sell bottles, not spark conversation. If you're here for the pasta and the breadsticks, fine; just don't expect the wine to be part of the story.

Texas Roadhouse Billings is not a wine destination, and it doesn't pretend to be β but the gap between the quality of the food and the quality of the wine list is real. Order the Chateau Ste. Michelle, eat the rolls, and save your serious wine curiosity for somewhere that reciprocates it.

Bull Mountain Grille is a trustworthy place to drink decent American red wine with a big steak in Billings β just don't come expecting discovery. If the list had fairer pricing and a shred of adventurousness, this could be something; instead it's exactly what it is, no more.

Bin 119 is the best wine answer Billings has, and that patio earns its reputation on atmosphere alone. The list could push harder on value and discovery, but as a reliable spot to drink well above your zip code's expectations, it absolutely delivers.
