Walking into Hope on Park, the pitch is clear and unashamed: this is a Hope Family Wines house, and they're not hiding it. The design-forward space — sidewalk bar up front, reservation-only immersive lounges in the back — signals that someone put real thought into this, not just slapped a logo on a tasting counter. It's the kind of place that converts skeptics by the second pour.
The list runs 20-40 bottles deep, entirely within the Hope Family universe — Austin Hope, Treana, Quest, Liberty School, Troublemaker, and the Austin label all make appearances. If you came hoping for a tour of the Rhône or a deep Burgundy dive, wrong room. But if you're in Paso and want to understand what one of the region's most serious families is actually building across their portfolio — from everyday Liberty School to the flagship Austin Hope — this is one of the most coherent single-producer lists you'll find anywhere. The gaps are obvious by design; the depth within those limits is genuinely impressive.
Eight to fourteen options by the glass in the $12–$22 range gives you real room to move through the portfolio without committing to a bottle. The range spans entry-level through estate-tier, so you can benchmark what an extra $6 a glass actually buys you in the Hope world. Rotation isn't heavily documented, but the breadth suggests they keep enough options open to reward repeat visits.
Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon — $12/glass
Liberty School is Hope Family's workhorse label and it punches well above its price point — ripe Central Coast Cab with real structure. At $12 a glass in a sit-down tasting environment with proper stems and attentive staff, you're getting more than the sticker suggests.
Quest
Quest is the label most visitors glaze past on the way to Austin Hope, but it's a serious Bordeaux-style blend that shows what the estate can do with structure and restraint. Most people pouring through a tasting room never give it a second look — their loss.
Troublemaker
Troublemaker is a solid, approachable Rhône-style blend that serves its purpose in a retail or grocery context — but at tasting room prices in a curated environment, you're paying for a brand story you can find cheaper anywhere. Spend the extra few dollars and move up the portfolio.
Treana Red Blend + Charcuterie board
Treana is a Cabernet-Syrah blend with enough dark fruit and savory backbone to hold its own against cured meats and aged cheeses. It's the kind of wine that makes a grazing board feel like an actual occasion.
The Bottom Line
Hope on Park is a single-producer tasting room that's confident enough in its lineup to not need a safety net — and mostly, that confidence is earned. If you're in Paso and want a well-run, design-conscious deep-dive into one family's full range of work, send your friends here without hesitation.

The Gold Rush Steak House is a nostalgic, only-in-California experience where the décor and the prime rib are the stars — the wine list is a supporting character that does its job without embarrassing itself. If you're in it for the food and the atmosphere, you'll drink fine; if you're here for the wine, you're in the wrong zip code.

Cello is doing the right things for a resort restaurant in wine country — local focus, sommelier on staff, a serious glass program — and it's mostly worth your time. The markup keeps it from being a destination wine experience, but if you're already staying at the Allegretto, this is absolutely where you're drinking tonight.

The Spoon Trade has no business being this thoughtful about wine for a casual beach-town comfort food spot, and that's the whole point. If you're in Grover Beach and want a genuinely local glass with your fried chicken, this is a better bet than anything with a bigger wine list and a worse sense of place.
