Wingman Metrics
You're not walking into Hawkers expecting a cellar book, and that's fine — neither are we. What you get is a tidy 12-bottle list that clearly had some thought behind it, even if the ambition stops there. It's the wine equivalent of a capable relief pitcher: no one's making a poster of it, but it gets the job done.
The list leans white and sparkling, which makes sense when you're dealing with spice-forward Asian street food — somebody in the building understood that much. You've got Bex Riesling and Nortico Alvarinho pulling weight on the aromatic end, Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc for the crowd that orders Sauvignon Blanc everywhere, and Diatom Chardonnay as the lone serious white on the roster. Reds are a predictable trio — Murphy-Goode Pinot Noir, Alamos Malbec, Smith & Hook Cab — nothing that will surprise anyone, but nothing offensive either. The Château de la Chaize Gamay is the one curveball, and it's a good one.
By-the-glass specifics aren't published, so we can't confirm what's poured versus bottle-only — that's a transparency miss. Based on the list size and casual format, it's a safe bet most or all are available by the glass, but you'll want to ask your server. Rotation doesn't appear to be a thing here; what's on the list is what's on the list.
Nortico Alvarinho — null
Alvarinho from the Minho region of Portugal is built for exactly this kind of food — bright acidity, citrus and stone fruit, light on its feet. It punches above whatever it costs here, and it's the smartest play on the menu against anything with heat or fish sauce.
Château de la Chaize Gamay
Beaujolais in a casual Asian food spot is an underrated move. Château de la Chaize is a legit Brouilly producer, not a Beaujolais Nouveau throwaway — low tannin, chillable, and it actually holds its own against spice in a way that Cab or Malbec simply doesn't.
Smith & Hook Cabernet Sauvignon
A big Central Coast Cab is the wrong tool for this kitchen. Heavy tannins and bold oak don't play nice with lemongrass, chili, or fish sauce — you'll be fighting the food all night. It's not a bad wine, it's just a bad call here.
Bex Riesling + Roti Canai
Off-dry Riesling and a flaky, curry-dipped flatbread is one of those pairings that feels obvious once someone points it out. The Bex has enough residual sweetness to tame the heat and enough acidity to cut through the richness. Order both.
The Bottom Line
Hawkers isn't a wine destination, but it's not trying to be — and the list is better calibrated to the food than most casual spots bother with. Come for the street food, drink the Alvarinho or the Gamay, and don't overthink it.
· Atlanta · Sushi / Omakase
Sushi By Bou is clearly here to serve great fish — and the wine list confirms that wine is very much an afterthought. Order the Dom if you're feeling flush or the Hampton Water if you're being sensible, and let the food do the heavy lifting.

· Atlanta · Mediterranean / New American
Rose & Rye isn't a destination for wine nerds, but it's a perfectly functional list for a date night where the wine is supporting the evening, not headlining it. Order the Crémant, avoid the Caymus markup, and you'll do just fine.

· Atlanta · Steakhouse
Hal's delivers a competent, Napa-forward bottle list that does exactly what a steakhouse wine program is supposed to do — just without much surprise or value mercy. Send a friend here if they want a reliable big-red experience; warn them to leave the credit card breathing room.

· Atlanta · Fast Casual
Nando's is here for the chicken, and the wine list knows it — eight uninspired labels that exist to check a box, not to enhance your meal. Order the Vinho Verde, enjoy your peri-peri, and don't overthink it.

Bici's wine list won't knock you sideways, but it's honest, Italian-focused, and fairly priced — a reliable partner to the food. We'd send a friend here and tell them to skip the Sauvignon Blanc and go straight for the Greco.

· Atlanta · Southern
SouthernNational is doing something genuinely unusual — running a tight, Europe-forward wine list inside a Southern kitchen, and mostly pulling it off. If you're tired of the same Sonoma Pinot and overpriced Malbec at every restaurant in town, this list is worth your attention.
