Wingman Metrics
The list is compact — 18 bottles, all available by the glass — and it reads exactly like a seafood restaurant in Plano should: safe, approachable, and squarely aimed at the table that wants a glass of something cold with their oysters without thinking too hard about it. There's nothing here that'll raise your pulse, but there's also nothing that'll embarrass you.
The white selection is doing the heavy lifting, and rightfully so — Martín Códax Albariño, Sauvion Vouvray, and Louis Jadot Chablis are solid nods to the kind of high-acid, mineral-driven wines that actually belong next to shellfish. On the red side, things get predictably suburban: Decoy Pinot Noir, Angeline Cab, and a Bezel by Cakebread that's essentially a $75 brand-tax bottle. The lone interesting detour is the Michael David 'Inkblot' Cabernet Franc, which at least shows someone thought about reds that aren't just Napa defaults. No natural wines, no skin-contact curiosities, no deep regional digs — this is a list built for consensus, not discovery.
Every bottle on the list is available by the glass, which is either a thoughtful move or a sign that the program never evolved past a simple pour-everything approach — probably both. Glass pours run $10–$19, with the Avissi Prosecco and Ruffino Prosecco Rosé anchoring the low end at $12. No obvious rotation program in place; what you see is what you get, consistently.
Josh Cellars 'Craftsman' Chardonnay — $39
Cheapest bottle on the list and, honestly, fine for what it is — a crowd-pleasing, lightly oaked Chardonnay that won't offend anyone. At $39 in a Texas seafood spot, you're not getting gouged, and splitting a bottle at dinner is a genuinely reasonable call.
Sauvion Vouvray
Most people at this table are going to default to the Sauvignon Blanc or the Chardonnay, and that's a shame. This Loire Valley Chenin Blanc has the kind of off-dry, honeyed-but-bright thing going on that makes it a natural with anything coming out of the ocean — and it's the most interesting white on an otherwise predictable list.
Bezel by Cakebread Cabernet Sauvignon
Seventy-five dollars for a brand-extension Cab at a seafood restaurant is a tough sell. Bezel is Cakebread's lower-tier label, and you're paying a premium for the name, not the wine. Save it for a steakhouse that at least makes the Napa story feel earned.
Martín Códax Albariño + Oysters on the Half Shell
Albariño from Rías Baixas is practically engineered for shellfish — briny, citrusy, high in acid, low in everything that would fight with raw oysters. This is the no-brainer call at Half Shells, and the $51 bottle price is fair enough to make it an easy yes.
The Bottom Line
Half Shells isn't trying to be a wine destination, and the list knows it — but the seafood-friendly whites, honest pricing, and full by-the-glass program make it a perfectly decent place to drink if you're eating there anyway. Order the Albariño or the Vouvray, skip the Cakebread, and you'll be fine.

Lombardi is a reliable dinner destination where the wine list does its job without embarrassing itself — or impressing you. Come for the handmade pasta and the room; just don't expect the list to steal the show.

Corner Wines is a small list doing big things, especially if Greek varietals are your thing or you've been wanting to get into them. The value is real, the curation is genuine, and in Plano of all places, that earns some serious points.

Flamant is a genuinely nice place to drink wine in Plano — the setting does a lot of the heavy lifting, and the Iberian-French focus is a smart identity to build around. The list just needs more courage and more transparency to fully match the room.

Vinotopia earns its wildcard badge by doing something genuinely different in a food hall context — wine sampling with a tech-forward, no-pretense attitude. It's not the place to obsess over a list, but it's a solid detour if you want a glass (or three) while figuring out dinner.

Whiskey Cake Plano's wine list won't earn any awards, but it's fairly priced, decently curated for the format, and has a couple of genuinely interesting picks hiding in plain sight. If you're here for the food, the wine will do its job — and that's a reasonable ask.

The Lobster Shop's wine list is doing more than it has to, and doing it at prices that won't make you wince. If you're eating seafood in Tacoma, this is a better glass situation than you'd find at most spots with ten times the ambition.

Crab Shell's wine list won't win any awards, but it's priced fairly, matched to the menu, and doesn't try to be something it isn't. Send a friend here for cold seafood and a bottle of the Macon-Lugny — they'll be happy.
