Wingman Metrics
Twelve wines, all by the glass, and almost every single one is a producer worth knowing — that's not an accident. Someone at Frank & Margie's is paying attention, and they're not just defaulting to whatever the distributor pushed hardest that week. For a casual Italian spot in Round Rock, this list earns a double-take.
The Italian backbone here is genuinely impressive: you've got Palagetto Chianti Colli Senesi sitting next to Collosorbo Sant'Antimo Rosso, Ferdinando Principiano's Dolcetto d'Alba, and an Oddero Langhe — that's a Barolo producer running a legitimately good everyday red. The whites lean Italian too, with a Fuso Verdicchio di Matelica and a Cantina Tudernum Grechetto di Todi that most wine lists in Austin proper wouldn't think to include. They break the mold slightly with a Nals Margreid Alto Adige Sauvignon Blanc and an Annabella Sonoma Chardonnay for the crowd that still needs a safety net. The Mas de Valeriole rosé rounds it out — a Provençal-style producer at $12 a glass is a soft landing for fence-sitters.
Everything on the list is available by the glass, which means you can graze through the whole thing over the course of a meal and call it research. Glass pours run $11 to $17, which is honest pricing for this caliber of producer — the Oddero Langhe at $16 and Ferdinando Principiano Dolcetto at $17 are the top end, and neither feels like a rip-off. No obvious rotation program in evidence, but when the standing list is this coherent, that's a minor complaint.
The Bottom Line
Frank & Margie's wine list is doing something quietly ambitious for Round Rock — twelve Italian-leaning glasses anchored by real producers like Oddero, Principiano, and Collosorbo at prices that don't sting. If you're the kind of person who gets excited about Grechetto di Todi on a Tuesday night, yes, absolutely send your friends here.

Swallow Wines is doing something real in a place most people wouldn't expect it — running winemaker events with serious small producers, stocking Counoise and Falanghina, and building a list that rewards the curious. We don't have pricing confirmed, so we can't vouch for value on the numbers, but the curation alone earns a detour if you're anywhere near Round Rock.

Sortino's punches above its weight class for a suburban Italian chain — fair markup, a genuine Italian backbone, and seventeen by-the-glass options give you room to drink well without a fight. It's not a destination wine list, but if you're already there for the pasta, you won't be stuck ordering soda.

Cover 3 Round Rock is a solid gastropub doing a lot of things right — just not wine. The list is undocumented, almost certainly underdeveloped, and not the reason anyone is walking through the door. Order a local craft beer or a cocktail, enjoy the Chicken Fried Chicken, and save your wine curiosity for a restaurant that earned it.

Whiskey Cake Round Rock isn't a wine destination, but it's not trying to be — the all-by-the-glass format keeps things approachable, the pricing is honest, and there are a couple of genuinely good pours hiding in a short list. If wine is your priority tonight, look elsewhere; if you're here for the vibe and want something decent in your glass, Chehalem and Altocedro have you covered.

Gino's isn't trying to be a wine destination, and it doesn't pretend to be — but the Italian-focused list, fair pricing, and full by-the-glass access make it a genuinely decent place to drink while you eat. Skip the Justin, lean into the Italian reds, and you'll leave happy.

Double Cut is a resort steakhouse wine list doing exactly what it was designed to do: keep guests comfortable and keep bottles moving. The markups are real, especially at the top end, and the list won't surprise anyone who's eaten at a hotel restaurant in the last decade. If you're here, order the Norton Malbec or the Mer Soleil Silver, skip the Caymus, and don't expect a wine revelation — that's not the point.

Il Giallo runs one of the more thoughtful Italian wine programs in Atlanta — 35 by-the-glass options with genuine regional range is rare, and the pricing stays fair across most of the list. If you're willing to skip the comfort picks and lean into the Sardinian whites or the Abruzzo reds, you'll drink very well here. Send a friend who actually likes Italian wine; tell the one who always orders Rombauer to sit down.

Pendolino is doing something genuinely interesting with a very short Italian wine list — prioritizing producers and regions that actually reward curiosity over safe crowd-pleasers. We don't have pricing or glass program details to fully vet the value story, but the selection alone earns our attention. If you're eating Italian in Sandy Springs and you want more than the usual suspects, this list is worth your time.

La Tavola deserves a real wine list — the food and the room both demand one. Right now, five bottles with no reds and no whites is a disservice to a kitchen that's clearly cooking at a higher level than the wine program suggests. Order the Ca' Del Bosco if you're drinking wine, and hope they overhaul this list before your next visit.
