Wingman Metrics
You're sitting on a patio surrounded by vines, the De Portola Road breeze is doing its thing, and the wine list is all estate-grown Temecula โ no imported filler, no hedge-your-bets Napa name-drops. It's a focused, unpretentious lineup that makes the setting feel intentional rather than accidental. This is a winery first, a restaurant second, and the wine program reflects that hierarchy in the best possible way.
Frangipani leans hard into estate production, and the range is wider than you'd expect from a smaller Temecula operation โ Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc anchor the whites, while the reds span Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah, Sangiovese, Malbec, and two blends in the Estate Claret and the NV D'vino. The Riesling is a genuine curveball for this AVA, where that grape almost never shows up, and it signals that someone here is thinking past the obvious. The list doesn't go wide geographically โ it's all Frangipani, all Temecula โ but within those boundaries there's enough range to keep things interesting across a full meal. What it lacks in global breadth it makes up for in terroir coherence.
Glass pours run $12โ$16, which is competitive for a winery tasting room with actual vineyard real estate under your feet. We don't have a confirmed glass count, but the estate variety lineup suggests you're getting at least several options spanning white through red. Rotation isn't formally documented, so your best move is to ask what's being poured that day โ staff here is friendly even if not deeply trained.
Frangipani Estate Petite Sirah 2020 โ $25
Retails for $40 and you're getting it for $25 on bottle specials โ that's a 37% discount on a wine you'd be happy to find at a shop. Petite Sirah from Temecula gets serious heat and hang time, and at this price it's the easiest yes on the list.
Frangipani Riesling
Nobody comes to Temecula for Riesling, which is exactly why you should order it. It's a genuine outlier in an AVA dominated by Bordeaux varieties, and the fact that Frangipani bothers with it at all suggests someone made it work. The crowd will be ordering Cab while you quietly have the most interesting glass on the patio.
NV D'vino
A non-vintage Cab-Merlot-Cab Franc blend that reads like a house pour designed to move volume rather than make a statement. The Estate Claret covers the same Bordeaux-blend territory with more definition, and the single-varietal reds give you more to think about. The NV designation is a yellow flag when everything else on the list is vintage-dated.
Frangipani Estate Malbec 2019 + Sausage from the patio grill
Malbec's dark fruit and firm structure cut right through grilled pork fat, and the smoke off the grill actually flatters the wine's earthy edges. At $25 a bottle you can commit to a full pour without doing math in your head.
๐ฒ The Bottom Line
Frangipani is the kind of winery patio that earns a return visit โ estate wines at honest prices, a Riesling nobody else is making in this valley, and a setting that does most of the heavy lifting. If your bar for a wine country afternoon is 'drink well, don't get gouged, and look at some vines,' this checks every box.

Great Oak is a reliable, well-run resort steakhouse wine program โ the sommelier presence and proper storage elevate it above the casino norm, but steep markups and a brand-name-heavy list keep it from being anything more than a very comfortable choice. Send a friend here if they want a guaranteed-good bottle of California Cab with a great steak; steer them elsewhere if they're looking for discovery.

Avensole's restaurant is a committed estate-only experience, and if you go in knowing that, it delivers โ fair pricing, a smart flight format, and some genuinely interesting bottles you won't find anywhere else. Cafรฉ Champagne is a lovely place to drink Temecula wine if you're already in Temecula โ the sparkling program is the real draw and the estate-only format at least has a clear point of view. Just don't show up expecting a deep, exploratory list; this is winery dining, not a wine destination in the broader sense.

Danza del Sol isn't trying to be a destination wine list โ it's a winery that pours its own stuff on a dog-friendly patio, and in that context it mostly delivers. If you're already in Temecula wine country and you want somewhere to land for an hour with a board and a glass of local Tempranillo, this is a solid call.
