Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Fogo de Chão Providence is built for a crowd that's here to eat its weight in picanha, not to geek out over terroir. Forty-five labels sounds respectable until you realize the by-the-glass lineup is heavy on recognizable supermarket names designed to reassure, not excite. It does the job — but just barely.
South America gets the most attention here, which makes sense given the concept: you'll find Catena and Jorjão by Zuccardi on the Malbec side, plus Lapostolle Grand Selection Sauvignon Blanc representing Chile. Beyond that, the list leans heavily on American crowd-pleasers like Meiomi Pinot Noir and The Prisoner's Unshackled Red Blend — wines that are everywhere for a reason, but not wines that require any real curation. There's a sparkling section with Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne and a Chandon Mini that reads more like a champagne tower moment than a serious bubbly program. The gaps are glaring: no Italian reds to speak of, no Spanish wines beyond a Garzón Albariño (which is actually Uruguayan), and zero old-world depth for a restaurant charging these prices.
Thirty-six by-the-glass options is a big number, and it's the list's most impressive stat — until you look closer and see it's padded with entry-level pours starting at $10/glass for Natura Chardonnay, Natura Rosé, and Alamos Malbec. The top end climbs to $30/glass for a Chandon Mini and $29/glass for Nicolas Feuillatte, which feels steep for what you're getting. Rotation doesn't appear to be part of the program's vocabulary.
The Bottom Line
Fogo de Chão Providence is a steakhouse first, and the wine list reflects exactly that priority — it's serviceable, accessible, and won't embarrass anyone, but it's also not trying very hard. If you're here for the churrasco experience, grab the Jorjão Malbec or the Garzón Albariño and let the meat do the heavy lifting. Don't come expecting discovery; do come knowing exactly what you're getting.
Federal Hill · Providence · Mediterranean with American flair, rotisserie-focused bistro
A glass-led list with a fair spread: 18 pours from $10 to $21, most reds at $14 or under, and a half-bottle section for when two people want different things. Start with the $15 Stoller Pinot Noir if you are ordering the short ribs, or the $13 Riesling with the choucroute, and confirm prices since the menu is undated. This unrated guide covers the posted drinks selection, not service, storage or markups.
Fox Point · Providence · American Brasserie
A compact list with three pour sizes: 17 wines come as 6 oz, 9 oz or bottle, and bottles run from $30 to $125. Start with the $10 Chateau Roc de Segur Bordeaux or the $11 Marqués De Valor Albariño, and confirm prices because the list is undated. This unrated guide covers the posted wine list, not service, storage or markups.
Federal Hill · Providence · Italian
A big Italian-leaning list: 41 Italian reds, 25 Cabernets and 22 wines by the glass. For a glass, the $14 Bonanza Cabernet by Caymus or the $11 Dante Di Fiorenza Super Tuscan are the easy picks; for a bottle, the $44 Carpineto Chianti Classico with the Mafaldine Bolognese is a safe, honest match. The menu says vintages can change with availability, so confirm before ordering. This unrated guide covers the posted wine list, not service, storage or markups.
Federal Hill · Providence · Italian
A large Italian-American list with enough by-the-glass range to cover a big table. Start with the Fratelli Cozza Montepulciano d'Abruzzo at $10 a glass, or the Silvan Ridge Willamette Pinot at $13 if you want something lighter, and come on a Monday if you want to buy bottles at half price. The wine pages are undated, so confirm prices when you order. This unrated guide covers the posted wine list, not service, storage or markups.
College Hill · Providence · American, French
A Cabernet-heavy list from autumn 2025, with glass pours from 10 and bottles up to a 450 Opus One. Start with the 10 Château du Petit Thouars Cabernet Franc, or the 16 Fontanafredda Nebbiolo if you want something from Piedmont, and check that the list is still current since it is marked September 2025. This unrated guide covers the posted wine list, not service, storage or markups.
Downcity · Providence · Steakhouse
A producer-led list that pairs a long Cabernet Sauvignon section with a short Old World Discovery section and plenty of by-the-glass choices. Order the $12 Franciscan Cabernet with a steak, or step up to the $18 Daou, and confirm which bottling is pouring and current prices. This unrated guide covers the posted wine menu, not service, storage or markups.
· San Juan · Brazilian Steakhouse
For a chain steakhouse, the wine pricing here is genuinely refreshing — nearly everything sits under $36/bottle, and there's enough quality across the Malbec and white wine selections to drink well without overthinking it. If you're coming for the meat, the list does its job. Just don't show up expecting depth beyond the Southern Cone.

North Bethesda · North Bethesda · Brazilian Steakhouse
Fogo de Chão North Bethesda isn't trying to win a wine award, and that's fine — the list is regionally coherent, fairly priced, and serviceable for what it is. If you're coming here for the meat, the wine does its job. If wine is the point of your evening, this isn't your room.

· Troy · Brazilian Steakhouse
For a chain steakhouse, Fogo de Chão Troy brings a wine list that at least takes South American wine seriously — fair prices, a few genuinely interesting white picks, and the Catena Zapata and Lapostolle labels lending some real-world credibility. Don't come here for wine discovery, but don't write it off either: skip the house label, order the Lapostolle Cuvée Alexandre, and let the meat do the rest of the work.
