First Impression
Evelyn's presents a wine list that doesn't try to be something it's not — this is Fort Lauderdale dining done right, with enough familiar names to keep the boat crowd happy and prices that won't make you wince. The vibe is neighborhood-friendly, the kind of place where you can order a bottle without feeling like you need to study for it.
Selection Deep Dive
The list leans heavily into California and France, with the usual suspects filling most slots — think Josh Cellars, La Crema, and accessible Bordeaux blends. There's a respectable Italian section with Chianti Classico and Pinot Grigio standards, plus a few Spanish Tempranillos that show someone's paying at least some attention. What's missing is depth: no natural wines, no adventurous producers, no real regional exploration. It's the wine equivalent of a greatest hits album — nothing wrong with it, but don't expect deep cuts.
By the Glass
The by-the-glass program runs about 8-10 pours, rotating seasonally with safe bets like Sonoma Chardonnay, Napa Cab, and Provence rosé. You'll find a Prosecco and maybe a Sancerre if you're lucky. Everything's priced in the $12-16 range, which feels about right for the market. The pours are generous and the wines are fresh enough, though we suspect they're not flying through bottles fast enough to keep everything at peak performance.
Commanderie de la Bargemone Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence Rosé — $42
Southern French rosé with actual structure and personality, priced fairly for a bottle that drinks well above its weight class
Tinto Pesquera Ribera del Duero
Most people skip Spanish reds in Florida, but this Tempranillo brings dark fruit and structure that handles richer dishes better than the California crowd-pleasers
Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet
At $120+, this tourist trap Cab is marked up to the moon — you're paying for the name, not the juice
Meiomi Pinot Noir + Grilled Atlantic Salmon
This fruit-forward Pinot has enough weight to stand up to salmon's richness without overpowering the fish
✔️ The Bottom Line
Evelyn's isn't going to blow your mind, but it's not trying to. This is a reliable neighborhood spot where you can drink decently without drama. Come for the food, order a bottle you recognize, and you'll walk out happy.
