Wingman Metrics
Walking into eight | 11 in West Plano, you get the sense that someone here actually cares — the room is polished without being stuffy, and the wine list isn't an afterthought tacked onto a cocktail menu. For a suburb better known for strip malls than Syrah, this place is punching above its zip code.
The list leans West Coast — California and Oregon are clearly doing the heavy lifting — which makes sense for a suburban crowd that wants something approachable but not embarrassing. There's enough range here to satisfy both the table ordering a Napa Cab with their filet and the person who actually wants to think about what they're drinking. It won't blow away anyone flying in from a major wine market, but for Plano on a Wednesday night, the depth is real. Gaps exist — expect limited Old World representation and don't come hunting for natural wine — but the core selection is solid enough to justify the visit.
Glass pour options exist and rotate, though the exact count isn't something we can pin down with confidence. What we do know: there's enough selection by the glass to build a proper evening without committing to a bottle, and the Tuesday wine flights suggest someone back there is thinking about the experience beyond just pouring and walking away.
Wednesday — Wine Down Wednesday: half off bottles under $100. Also Tasting Tuesday with half off wine flights — two nights a week worth planning around.
The Bottom Line
eight | 11 is the kind of wine-forward spot that Plano genuinely needs — real effort, fair deals, and weekly programming that gives you a reason to come back. Send your friends here on a Wednesday and let them figure out the rest.

Roma has enough wine on the list to get you through a good dinner, but it leans hard on California crowd-pleasers and marks them up accordingly. Stick to the Italian reds, avoid the Napa trophies, and you'll drink well enough — just don't expect the list to match the ambition of the cuisine.

Bob's Plano is a dependable steakhouse wine list built for the business dinner crowd — technically solid, California-centric, and priced to match the room. If you know what you want and you want something familiar, it'll deliver; just don't come here looking for adventure or value.

The Capital Grille Plano is a safe, well-executed wine program with real depth on paper and a knowledgeable staff to help you navigate it — but you're paying steakhouse prices for the privilege, and the list rarely strays outside its California comfort zone. Send your clients here, bring your parents here, but don't expect to be challenged.

CRÚ Plano punches well above its Legacy West strip-mall setting — 300 bottles and a genuinely active specials calendar make this worth a dedicated visit, not just a last-resort pour before the movie. Just don't come looking for Burgundy and you'll leave happy.

BJ's Plano is a beer hall that tolerates wine — the list is safe, the prices are fair enough, and Half Off Wine Wednesday makes it genuinely cheap. If you're here for the Pizookie and a round, grab the Daou and call it a night; just don't expect anyone to geek out with you.

Romano's Macaroni Grill Plano isn't a wine destination, but it doesn't pretend to be one either. Show up on a Wednesday, order the Chianti, and you've got a genuinely solid dinner at a price that makes sense.
