Wingman Metrics
The wine list at BJ's Plano reads exactly like you'd expect from a place that built its reputation on craft beer and deep-dish pizza — it's an afterthought dressed up in familiar labels. Meiomi, Kim Crawford, Apothic Red: these are the wines of grocery store endcaps and casual chain dining, and nobody's pretending otherwise. That's not necessarily a crime, but it does set expectations firmly on the floor.
The list clocks in at around 20–30 labels, nearly all California with a token New Zealand and Italian entry to feel cosmopolitan. You've got La Crema and Hess Select flying the Chardonnay flag, Daou showing up as the lone Paso Robles ambassador with some actual credibility, and then Dark Horse and Apothic Red doing the heavy lifting for people who just want something red and inoffensive. There's no real exploration here — no Rhône, no Rioja, no anything that might make someone pause and ask a question. The gaps are wide enough to drive a beer truck through.
The by-the-glass program runs 12–18 options at $7–$12, which is genuinely accessible pricing for a casual night out. The selections mirror the bottle list — familiar faces, zero surprises — but at these prices you're not really being gouged, just gently steered toward the predictable. Rotation appears minimal; this reads like a set-it-and-forget-it program.
Daou Cabernet Sauvignon — $12/glass (est.)
Daou is the one bottle on this list with actual winery cred — their Paso Robles Cab punches well above its price point. At BJ's glass pricing, it's the closest thing to a real wine moment this list offers.
La Crema Chardonnay (Monterey County)
La Crema gets lumped in with grocery-store Chardonnay but the Monterey bottling is genuinely food-friendly — leaner, more citrus-driven than their Sonoma Coast. Most people here will default to Meiomi; don't be most people.
Apothic Red Winemaker's Blend
This is a $10 retail bottle showing up on a restaurant list. Even at BJ's pricing it's hard to justify when Daou is sitting right there. Apothic exists to be familiar, not good.
Meiomi Pinot Noir + Pepperoni Avocado Pizza
Meiomi is sweet-edged and soft enough to handle the richness of pepperoni and avocado without fighting either. It's not a high-wire pairing, but it works, and that's all anyone's asking for here.
Wednesday — BJ's current promotions list Half Off Wine Wednesday. Note: older social posts referenced a Tuesday half-off bottle deal, so confirm at the location — but Wednesday is the most current listing.
❌ The Bottom Line
BJ's Plano is a beer hall that tolerates wine — the list is safe, the prices are fair enough, and Half Off Wine Wednesday makes it genuinely cheap. If you're here for the Pizookie and a round, grab the Daou and call it a night; just don't expect anyone to geek out with you.

The Capital Grille Plano is a safe, well-executed wine program with real depth on paper and a knowledgeable staff to help you navigate it — but you're paying steakhouse prices for the privilege, and the list rarely strays outside its California comfort zone. Send your clients here, bring your parents here, but don't expect to be challenged.

Romano's Macaroni Grill Plano isn't a wine destination, but it doesn't pretend to be one either. Show up on a Wednesday, order the Chianti, and you've got a genuinely solid dinner at a price that makes sense.

Carrabba's Plano isn't a wine destination, but it's not a wine disaster either. If you're here for dinner with the family and want a solid glass without any drama, the Chianti Classico earns its keep.

The Col d'Orcia Brunello and Bertani Amarone suggest someone, somewhere, tried — but the surrounding list is chain-restaurant autopilot and the markups don't reward your loyalty. Order the breadsticks, nurse the Amarone, and keep your expectations exactly where the laminated menu set them.

The Keg Plano is a dependable steakhouse wine experience — not inspiring, but not embarrassing either. If you're here for the prime rib and a no-drama bottle of Cab, you'll leave satisfied; just don't come looking for discovery.
