You walk into Diamond X Beer Co. and immediately understand the assignment — this place is about craft beer, a patio with a golf course view, and a good time. The wine list feels like it was added as an afterthought for the friend who doesn't drink beer, which, honestly, is probably exactly what happened. Six to twelve bottles and a handful of glass pours doesn't exactly scream 'wine destination.'
The list is short and entirely varietal-led — a Sauvignon Blanc, a Chardonnay, a Cabernet, and the non-alcoholic Noughty Wine rounding things out. Lane is the anchor producer here, a California-facing brand built for approachability over complexity. There's no regional diversity, no Old World presence, no surprises. If you're hoping for something beyond the big three grapes, you're in the wrong zip code — or at least the wrong drink menu.
Glass pours run $7.50 to $10, which sounds reasonable until you do the math and realize the bottles are marked up a clean 100% over retail. Four to eight options by the glass keeps things simple, but rotation doesn't appear to be part of the vocabulary here. What's on the list today is almost certainly what's on the list next month.
Lane Sauvignon Blanc — $26
At $26 a bottle it's the most approachable entry point on the list. It's not a wine that will change your life, but it's clean, easy-drinking, and at a brewpub in Billings it'll do the job — especially on the patio on a warm evening.
Noughty Wine
Most people will scroll right past the non-alcoholic option, but if you're the designated driver or just taking a night off, Noughty is genuinely one of the better zero-proof wines on the market. It's a rare sight on a Montana bar menu and worth a look.
Chardonnay
At $36 a bottle for what retails around $18, you're paying a 100% markup on a mid-tier Chardonnay that belongs on a grocery store shelf. Order a pint of their house beer instead — that's the actual point of being here.
Lane Sauvignon Blanc + House Burger
A cold, crisp Sauvignon Blanc cuts through the fat of a juicy burger better than most people expect. It's not a classic pairing on paper, but the bright acidity does real work here and keeps things refreshing between bites.
❌ The Bottom Line
Diamond X is a legitimately good craft brewery with a wine list that exists purely to check a box. Come for the beer, enjoy the patio, and if someone at your table absolutely needs wine, the Lane Sauvignon Blanc won't embarrass anyone — but don't make the wine the reason you're here.

Outback's wine list is corporate on purpose — it's designed to be inoffensive, not interesting. Order the Koonunga Hill with your steak, and save your real wine curiosity for a restaurant that returns the favor.

The prices are shockingly low, and credit where it's due — but a steal on mediocre wine is still mediocre wine. Come for the Cheddar Bay Biscuits, skip the wine list, and save your real bottle for somewhere that cares.

Olive Garden's wine list is exactly what it is — a corporate-approved selection designed to sell bottles, not spark conversation. If you're here for the pasta and the breadsticks, fine; just don't expect the wine to be part of the story.

Texas Roadhouse Billings is not a wine destination, and it doesn't pretend to be — but the gap between the quality of the food and the quality of the wine list is real. Order the Chateau Ste. Michelle, eat the rolls, and save your serious wine curiosity for somewhere that reciprocates it.

Bull Mountain Grille is a trustworthy place to drink decent American red wine with a big steak in Billings — just don't come expecting discovery. If the list had fairer pricing and a shred of adventurousness, this could be something; instead it's exactly what it is, no more.

Bin 119 is the best wine answer Billings has, and that patio earns its reputation on atmosphere alone. The list could push harder on value and discovery, but as a reliable spot to drink well above your zip code's expectations, it absolutely delivers.
