Wingman Metrics
Cork & Knife is the kind of place that surprises you — a boutique wine-and-grazing spot tucked into a Clovis strip mall that clearly takes its wine more seriously than its surroundings suggest. The vibe is relaxed and intimate, built for lingering over a board and a pour rather than rushing through a three-course meal. It earns points immediately for leaning into the wine bar identity rather than hedging it.
The list draws from California and global producers, which is the right instinct for a spot like this — local loyalty without the tunnel vision. Without seeing the full list in print, we can say the range appears deliberately curated rather than warehouse-bought, which matters in a market where most wine bars default to the same ten labels. The focus on a tasting experience and small-plates pairing suggests the list is built around food compatibility, not just shelf appeal. Gaps in depth are expected at this scale, but the regional range at least gives you somewhere to roam.
Happy hour runs Tuesday through Sunday from 3 to 5 PM, with by-the-glass pours at $9 — excluding premium and super-premium selections, which is a reasonable carve-out. That's a workable entry price for a neighborhood wine bar, and it signals they want people actually drinking rather than just staring at a list. Whether the rotation refreshes regularly is the real question, but the structure is there.
Wednesday — Wine Down Wednesday runs 5 PM to 8 PM with 25% off all carry-out bottles and 10% off bottles enjoyed in-house. Tuesday through Sunday happy hour (3–5 PM) also offers $9 wines by the glass, excluding premium and super-premium selections.
The Bottom Line
Cork & Knife earns a Wild Card badge because it's doing something genuinely uncommon for Fresno: running a real wine bar with structured tastings, a half-price Wednesday deal, and a daily happy hour that keeps the barrier low. We can't vouch for every bottle on the list without seeing it, but the bones of a thoughtful program are here — and if you're in the area, a $9 glass at happy hour is a very low-risk way to find out for yourself.
· Fresno · Regional Italian
The Annex Kitchen is doing something genuinely uncommon in Fresno's dining scene — building an all-by-the-glass Italian wine list that actually reflects the cuisine it's serving. The Franciacorta, the Durello, the Barbera, the two Soaves — this is a list assembled with intention, not just filled in. We'd send a friend here for wine without hesitation, especially at these prices.

Wine Bar 559 is doing something genuinely interesting in a city not known for its wine culture — a sparkling-forward list with real depth, fair pricing, and a by-the-glass program that doesn't insult you. If you're passing through Fresno or live there and haven't been, this is the kind of place that makes you reassess your assumptions.

Piazza Del Pane isn't going to make any wine destination lists, but it's a solid, fairly priced California-centric list that does right by its crowd. If you like what you already know, you'll drink well here.

Tap & Cellar is a Wild Card in the best sense: a beer-first casual spot that clearly has wine opinions, even if it doesn't shout about them. We'd send a friend here for a low-stakes Friday night with a glass of something local and a charcuterie board — just don't expect a deep-dive list.

MOTO is exactly the kind of place that shouldn't have a wine list this considered, and yet here we are. Send your friends who think Fresno doesn't have a wine scene — this won't overwhelm them, but it might surprise them.
